COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Directly inspired by traditional saisons of the 19th century, beers meant to quench the thirsts of farm workers at harvest time, the Saison de la Senne is a beer of mixed fermentation. It is both bitter and aromatic thanks to particularly generous hopping, while at the same time developing a vinous and tangy character thanks to a blending with old lambic from the Cantillon brewery. Ripened in oak barrels for 9 months and listed at 4.3% abv.

Bottle @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels.
Pours slightly muddy yellow with a lovely, big, staying, frothy, white head. Great duration. Aroma has sweet malts, brett, light sugar, citrus and green apple. Medium carbonation, fine dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is fairly tart at first, some soapy hints, pepper, dryness, lots of funky brett. Malty sweet with a lingering, hoppy and bretty dryness. Very yummy, perhaps not worth its price, but still yummy.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil at their Cantillon & de la Senne event, with a big thanks to fatboyjim1 from BA for sharing this gem with me. Pours a hazy (to the point of opacity) golden yellow with a nice thick creamy beige head, that leaves some nice lace. Aromas are light and fresh with hay and lemon and a nice touch of funk. Medium bodied. Flavor is quite funky and woody. Finishes with a bit of yeast an a nice touch of astringent sour funk balancing an almost bracing bitterness. This was quite tasty stuff.
