On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Hazy yellow pour, with a medium, creamy, white head. The aroma is hay, barnyard mustiness, pine, and some light fruitiness. Sweet and musty, with a pretty significant hop bitterness. Long, bitter aftertaste. Medium to heavy body, very astringent and velvety. Overall, this is not my favorite beer. The dry hopping added too much bitterness, which overwhelms the more subtle aspects of a good saison. Oh, well.

BOTTLE 37,5 CL vintage 2014. Hazy golden, big fluffy head. The aroma is a marvelous mix of white baguette, fresh pale stone fruit (peaches, apricot), wild aromatic herbs. Light hints of boiled vegetables. The taste is not as dry, slightly honeyish actually, relatively thin and slightly bitter. Again, a slight hint of cooked corn. Good, but past it prime.

Bottleshare at Leighton’s Gaff. Thanks to LKS. Lightly hazy gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy palate, fairly dry. Decent fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, very light, modest sweetness. Light floralness into pithy tangy citrus. Floral bitter finish. Fine.

Bottle shared in London - picked up somewhere way back in the day. Pours hazy gold with a lingering, frothy pure white head. Subtle yeast expression n he nose, faint oxidation, dry wheat bread, wheat, grain. Light-medium sweet flavour with more husky grains, mellow grassy bitterness, doughy wheat bread, hay, lemon peel. Light to medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Nicely balanced in the finish, more grass and grain husk, citrus peel. Good stuff.

Bottle from Bridgend Services, Freuchie. Pours with a bit of murk. Light golden amber. Generous, fluffy white head. Bready malt comed through in the nose. Quite biscuity too. Spicy yeast character. Some floral and herbal notes from the dry hops. Some orange and grapefruit. Lemon cordial. Very light tropical coconut drink. Taste has a lovely marmalade sweetness with a little sharpness to keep it in check. More spiced bread malt. More orange juice. A little grapefruit again. Medium bitterness. A little astringent bite. Bit too bitey. Juicy middle. Juicy finish with a little dry spiciness. Foamy carbonation. Good medium mouthfeel. Tasty gear, needs sunshine for optimum enjoyment though

750 ml bottle (2014 vintage) from Everett’s in South Beloit, IL, consumed slightly below cellar temp in a Duvel glass. Difficult to extract cork, slight release of air and noise when popped, but nonetheless it pours the typical huge frothy-rocky Dupont head atop a hazy luminous golden body, though the head is less stable than what I’ve usually seen (from fresher bottles)....spicy nose - tarragon, pepper - with plenty of dry yeastiness and perhaps a faint hint of something sugary, light oxidization...on the tongue it’s immediately sharp with plenty of that dry herbal bitterness, followed by a touch of sweetness in the middle of the palate, and a drier character returning at the finish, which is also rather mineralic/stony...very full and juicy body with tingly carbonation and lots of wet yeasty goodness. I would bet this was absolutely spectacular when absolutely fresh, but it’s still pretty darn excellent and I was overjoyed to find it locally. Now I wonder if they have some more bottles...
