Saison Dupont is a classic Belgian farmhouse ale. This is a beautifully balanced, complex beer that has a refreshing fruitiness and long, dry finish. It is bottled unfiltered so it may be cloudy or have a slight sediment but this is normal and perfectly natural.

For export relabeled as "Vieille Provision".

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2008 Dupont Saison, on tap at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse near Robinson Township. Thanks to mtoast. I really enjoy the variety of saisons Ive had in the past and was really looking forward to trying this. This beer pours a pale yellow; tho slightly hazy I do not see any particles floating around in there. It has a creamy white foam head of about one inch or less. The aroma is beery and yeasty, just like many other beers nothing special, just plain old beer smell. The flavor is complex and interesting, difficult to define. Initially this brew comes on slightly hoppy with light to medium bitterness. Then it rapidly fades to a mild sweetness and unrefined taste that keeps your attention. Very nice, enjoyable and different than anything I can recall. This almost reminds me of the taste of homemade Italian wine, the kind with dark and light grapes mixed together. Does this have hints of aged moldy wood from an old unpainted barnyard fence, in an attractive manner? Indescribable! The medium bitterness builds on the back of your tongue as you continue to drink. The feel of this beer is almost buttery smooth with medium to low carbonation. Tho the bitterness builds on the finish, it is definitely not a repulsive medicinal quality like IPA or imp stout. The alky content is well hidden. Finish is generally OK with a medium bitter linger. Overall a decent saison but I think Yards saison and Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere may have a taste and enjoyability better than this brew.

Bottle gifted by Piscator34- thanks for the parting gift!! Cloudy peach colour with huge billowing white head and great lacing. Aroma is of belgian spices. Taste is quite spicy with hints of sour funk. I found it fairly hoppy and had a very dry finish. I noticed some woody flavours- mostly oak. This is one refreshing brew- I could quaffe many a bottle of this belgian treat.

Tap. Pours a medium, honey-amber color; white head with brilliant lacing and retention. Pleasant amounts of yeast, honey, and belgian sugar in the aroma; hints of spice and white pepper. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: bready and yeasty character upfront, with a slight honey-laden viscosity; moderate carbonation; pleasant levels of spice, with a hint of citrus bitterness on a long finish. Tasty, balanced saison.

Wow! Pours a lovely chromatic yellow. Perfect head and lacing. Head lasts for an eternity. Aroma of sweet citrus and woods. I can get lost in this. The best beer I have ever had. Tasted of orange and spice. Sweet with a perfect bitter finish. I cant wait to have another. WOW!

Pours a hazy maize with a thick, long lasting fluffy white head. The nose is yeasty, somewhat spicy, and a touch of clove. The taste is a mix of spices, orange zest, and grain. A pretty decent offering.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow, with a large white frothy head. Nice spicy earthiness on the nose with hints of citrus and a nice dose of barnyard. Nice carbonated mouthfeel with a generous dose of yeasty spiciness and earthy flavor. A great example of the stlye, but there are considerably better saisons to be had.

Pours a rich macro yellow with a slight haze and a thick frothy, meringue-like head. Without the head and the haze, the appearance would be a two. The nose is dry with some lemon and very very light berry points. I may smell some wheat, but I may be wrong. This is fairly fluid in the mouth, but the body is substantial with some low carbonation despite the rather impressive head. The flavors are the best part here for sure. Very dry malt, crisp and refreshing in the hop notes akin to a well constructed pilsner (e.g., Prima Pils). Lemon and a wheaty grainy flavor are a bit more prominent. Then theres the spice that realy comes out in the finish. A sharp acidic lemongrass with some white pepper and perhaps a bit of copper. The aftertaste is big with this acidic dry finish but theres some substantial anise and a bit of grass in there as well as the big lemony flavors and what I think to be hops. Drinking more, I noticed that mouth coating quality and flavor that comes from diacetyl. Normally, the bane of my existance, here its completely reasonable and perhaps appropriately cuts the spices, herbs, and acidity. A real tragedy that I cant get this at my local.

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with lots of head. Lemony with some bitter/hops. Interesting.
