Saison Imperiale was created as a bolder more flavorful interpretation of the style. This is a deep amber colored beer with active carbonation forming a large tan head. The beer is fermented with two yeasts - the traditional ale yeast Sacchoromyces along with a light touch of the lambic-like Brettanomyces yeast, yielding a mild earthiness sometimes referred to as "farmhouse character." On the palate the yeasts and hops initially combine for fruity and spicy notes, followed by a semi-sweet caramel medium bodied depth and richness from the malt. A truly unique saison experience.

I consider myself more of a quadrupel or a dubbel fan but this is pretty fine. I opened the 750 ml. bottle and poured a distinctive orange-amber body into a tulip glass. The well developed white foam stayed a long, long time.I could see strong carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass. The scent is fruity, maybe white grapes, and a slightly floral caste.I get a taste of a yellow plum sweetness, dough and a touch of yeast. Only slightly bitter as a follow I think this would be a good summer brew served at a fairly cold temp. Best Saison I have tasted.

Bottle at WTWBA 2015 in Minneapolis. Hazy reddish orange / amber pour. Earthy with sweet caramel. Okay for me.

Just aight. Poured very well with a thick off white head. Murky Amber in color. Clove, coriander and pepper on the nose. Decent flavor, bananas, more clove, notes of sweet molasses, even some bubblegum. Needs more gusto in the finish than what it had. It left me wanting more.

Had years ago while at BW. Kind of your classic all around saison. Great flavors, nothing over the top.
