Saku Kuld – a modern classic, the absolute elite of Estonian beers, a combination of Saku’s hundreds-of-years-old brewing traditions, and the newest technology. With a rich taste, foam, and aroma, a delicate balance of freshness and mildness characterizes the taste of Saku Kuld. The freshness comes from Nordic oat malt and velvety smoothness is added to the refined bouquet by Hallertau hops. In addition, Saku Kuld is characterized by a clear colour and thick firm foam. Saku Kuld is sold in unique bottles with a relief of the Saku arms.

Recension från baklogg. Flaska köpt på SB. Ljusgul vätska med vitt skum. Brödig doft. Torr krispig beska. Kort eftersmak.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2015 Update: Canned on 15/04/15. Clean, smooth pale lager. When served at 7degC - not pretentious, not musky or skunky. Just simple and refreshing. 5,2ABV suits it fine. For historical reasons: Initial Rating Date: 10/5/2013 Was: 1/1/1/1/1/ This is unbelievable. This brew is supposed to be one of the best Saku lagers. And it was. Purchased a can from Selver, that was produced on 27 September, 2013 - price was 0.75EUR. That explains a lot - beer brewed for seasonal sales campaign - is in 100% of the cases is rubbish. P.S: Previous similar "sale" beer case was with Puls Pilsner - it was cloudy and sour.

Can from supermarket. Golden color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, malts, grass, a bit of toast and cardboard. Bitter finish with citrus and cardboard. Pretty basic bulk pale lager.

can. pale, tastewise what you’d expect from a bulk lager. in a very self-deceptive way I’ve always thought that this beer is a bit better than its bland siblings. but that’s been fresh from tap. in a can, pretty much as the others.

I tasted this at a couple of locations in Tallinn. In summary, I was disappointed. It was a rather bland beer served too cold. It poured with a reasonable lacy head, but the taste was indistinct and forgettable.

Clear blond coloured beer with small white head and no carbonation. Herby hopped aroma. Medium sparkling palate. Finish is slight bitter ending rather dry.

50cl can from Rimi Hypermarked in Tallinn. Pours the usual clear pale golden with a small, white head. Lightly malty aroma with some fruity notes and hints of hops and vegetables. Fairly standard pale lager, not interesting, but far from the worst of its kind. Medium sweet with grainy and lightly hoppy flavours. Light to medium body with average carbonation. Ok pale lager.

500 ml bottle.
Pours a pale golden colour with a white foamy head. Aroma of grainy malts, some citrus and herbs. Flavour of grainy malts, low grassy bitterness, some citrus and metallic notes. Light fruitiness as well. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. In the world of pale lagers this is certainly a drinkable one.

0,33L bottle. Medium malty and hop aroma. Taste is also sweet, sour malty. Bit a vegetables. Finish is sweet hop water. When Saku Kuld was born, was taste the best in Estonian beers, but like any Saku beers it changes always cheaper raw produce when people are accustomed :(

Originally rated on 7.4.2011. Slightly hoppy, but otherwise quite bulky and generic lager with alcohol burning through slightly.
