COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2014 Reddish brown beer with smallish head. Roasted and smoky malts, little bit of grassy hop aromas. Mildly smoky, roasted malts and grassy hops in the end. Pretty thin for a porter, high carbonation.

Moderate hoppy and licorice. Huge creamy and light brown head. Excellent lacing. Fully lasting longevity. Black body. Moderate bitter with a tast of licorice. Medium Palate.

Poured a very dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma has lots of caramel and chocolate. Lots of dark fruits with raisins as well. Slightly nutty. Taste is slightly creamy with dark fruits and cherries at first. There is also a distinct licorice flavor. Taste transitions to have more roasted flavors with caramel. Finish has more raisins with coffee. Overall very flavorful, but I’m not sure I like the flavor combinations as much.

CanCrusher (1178) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - MAY 23, 2013
Bottle 0,50L. Dark brown mahagony colour with small, light brown creamy head that sits down quickly, but doesn’t dissapear. Light malty aroma of caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. Light sweet, cacao taste with moderate bitter aftertaste with mild mouthfeel. Medium to full body, oily texture and light carbonation. Nicely balanced and lighter than Saku Puhade Porter. Very mild and drinkable.

W aromacie słodkawe nuty kojarzące się z jakimś likierem, ponadto ciemne pieczywo i śliwka. Piwo barwy czarnej z rubinowym refleksem. Piana średnia, nie znika do zera. W smaku likierowate z akcentami mlecznej czekolady, pralin i kawy. Goryczka jednak kojarząca się z czekoladą deserową. Brakuje ciała, ale mimo wszystko piwo jak najbardziej okej.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2013 That is another classic...Somehow I feared this could be as disappointing as the Baltika 6. Nice dark brown, with an incredibly thick creamy head. The nose is very sweet. Malzbier or Karamalz, cloying. But the flavours are much more agreeable, with salty licorice, Vegemite, some yogurt sourness and a nice bitterness that drives it all away from the cloying suggestion on the nose. This Saku porter is actually so well balanced that, with its rather thin body, it is refreshing even on a hot summer day.

A strange smell of grape from this one, but good -- not so for a beer, but good. Tastes like dry grapey porter with hops mixed in. Worth a try, but nothing more.

500ml bottle. Dark colour, red undertones, very little head. Caramel and raisin aroma. Taste is much the same, slight tobacco. reminds me of a dark Belgian without the yeast. Average body. Overall, a pleasant surprise. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Black with a large beige-yellowish head. Not as sweet as imgained from some ratings, finishes with a mix of roasted, liqourice and bitter notes. Full bodied and quite nice baltic porter.

Deep brown colour. Vinous aroma. Sweetish with some raisin/plum flavours. A bit bitter in the finish.
