COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

Crockett (1117) - Southampton, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 24, 2004
Pours deep mahogony with a a slight haze. Firm creamy off white. Sweetly spiced with an aroma of dried fruit, pruney, and modest chocolate aroma. Heavy on malts and hard to find any alcohol. Initially roasty and full of caramel and burnt flavours. Softens quickly into chocolate and earthy malts. Creamy and softly carbonated body. Not as punchy as I had expected. Long, but somewhat washed out chocolate/coffee finish.

Clear reddish cola-colored brown beer. Makes little blonde head which disappears soon. Aroma is sugary sweet, little loafy bready and roasted malty. Taste is salty licoricy sweet with roasted and loafy bready malts. Mouthfeel is only medium full and slick with pretty strong carbonation. Finish is pretty short with not much carbonation. An easily drinkable and sweet Baltic Porter, not bad at all.

So what do you say about another mediocre porter? Well it is darker with a thin quickly discipating tan head. The nose and taste are just about the same, bland dry malts and just a dab of caramel. Porters suck.

Senka (1082) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 15, 2014
Yeah, here it goes. I have had this one more than 20 bottles this winter. This is the best Estonian Porter this season. Creamy, dark roasted, loads of caramel and still well balanced and drinkable. A huge surprise from mass brewery.

Unde (1080) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 25, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2014 Reddish brown beer with smallish head. Roasted and smoky malts, little bit of grassy hop aromas. Mildly smoky, roasted malts and grassy hops in the end. Pretty thin for a porter, high carbonation.

CanCrusher (1074) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - MAY 23, 2013
Bottle 0,50L. Dark brown mahagony colour with small, light brown creamy head that sits down quickly, but doesn’t dissapear. Light malty aroma of caramel, chocolate and roasted malt. Light sweet, cacao taste with moderate bitter aftertaste with mild mouthfeel. Medium to full body, oily texture and light carbonation. Nicely balanced and lighter than Saku Puhade Porter. Very mild and drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma is sweet. Taste is nutty, sweet, toffee, malty, little bitterness. Enjoyable

austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - NOV 16, 2008
Black, nicely creamy beige head. Milk chocolatey aroma with little vegies, metal, and alcohol, quite many off-aromas actually. Neutral milky flavor, dry burned malts, metal, little vegetables. Little charcoal and cocoa in the mildly bitter finish. Almost medium bodied, soft carbonation, light palate for such high abv. Hold on, this is just Saku taurus painted black!

The temperature of beer was maybe a bit too high when I started drinking, quite good baltic porter anyway.
