COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most delightful way to enjoy Saku Porter would be in front of a fireplace or in candle light during those long and dark winter nights. This beer keeps you warm all through the coldest time of the year. Saku Porter is the ideal accompaniment to roasted meats and game. The fact that porter is also perfectly suited to light various desserts, especially those containing chocolate, may not be that commonly known. The ideal serving temperature for Saku Porter is rather high, 12–14 °C, a typical quality for dark beers. Saku Porter, a unique dark beer with strong taste, is brewed of water, caramel, light and coffee malts, hop and yeast, however, only once a year – for Christmas. Similarly to classical porters, Saku Porter is a strong (alc. 7.5 % of volume) full-bodied beer. A special jewel to Saku Porter is its high, rich, brownish foam.

Note: Originally brewed in Saku at 7.5%, moved to Aldaris and reduced to 7% in winter 2009/2010.

Bottled. Clear, almost opaque dark brown porter has a licorice and syrupy malty aroma. Taste is sweet malts with chocolate and salty licorice. Full bodied porter with quite strong taste.

Bottle bought from some shop in Tallinn. Black with medium brown head. Some smoky and liquorice aroma. Lasting Bitterness. Thick texture. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not bad, but definitely too pale for a porter. I would categorize this as a brown ale. The taste was very mild for a porter. Pretty good beer.

Brown, clear, with a light tan head that doesn't last long. Nose is slightly metallic, sweet and chocolatey. Flavor is surprisingly good, medium-sweet with notes of chocolate. Mouthfeel tends toward the fizzy/bitey end of the spectrum.

Bottle 0.5 l. Pretty much black with a thick brown head. Roasted creamy nose. Flavor is roasted, not remarkably bitter, malts and creamy coffee with some chocolate. Quite pleasant and easy overall.

W aromacie słodkawe nuty kojarzące się z jakimś likierem, ponadto ciemne pieczywo i śliwka. Piwo barwy czarnej z rubinowym refleksem. Piana średnia, nie znika do zera. W smaku likierowate z akcentami mlecznej czekolady, pralin i kawy. Goryczka jednak kojarząca się z czekoladą deserową. Brakuje ciała, ale mimo wszystko piwo jak najbardziej okej.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2017 Butelka 500 ml. Ciemnobrunatny kolor z rubinowym refleksem. Piana bezowa, raczej niska ,opada szybko do pierscienia. W zapachu palone slody, czekolada i lekkie lesne owoce. W smaku slodkawe z naciskiem na karmel, czekolada niezbyt wyczuwalna, rodzynkowo-alkoholowe posmaki,w glebi sliwki. Malo ciala w tym piwie.

Nearly black color with a big white head. Aroma is malty with dark bread and rye pudding, also some metallic notes. Taste is roasty but also sweet. Maltiness is moderate, the mouthfeel very soft and medium to full bodied. Flavours include rye bread, some chocolate and a hint of licorice. Alcohol does not feature. Well, this was decent but not up to the top Finnish porters like Sinebrychoff Porter or Malmgårds porters.

Ruikt zwaar zoet, naar een echte porter. In het hostel uit de fles. Appearance dus niet te zien. Goed mondgevoel en vrij lichte smaak voor de biersoort. Wel lekker!

This is an interesting beer. Body is too light for style. The color is a gorgeous red. Hold a light up to it, and you’ll see what I mean (about the body too). Unfortunately, there wasn’t much of a head. Pretty hoppy for an Eastern European brew, but I think that’s what makes it memorable, as opposed to other Eastern European beers that you forget about 10 minutes after you drink them. I’ve bought it before, and I’ll buy it again when I’m in the mood.
