Very deep, dark, brown colour. Roasted, coffee tinged, aroma, although its quite subtle. Fairly dry, with bitter chocolate in the flavour. Not particularly full bodied, but very pleasant. Cask (gravity dispense), Battersea Beer Festival, February 2005.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. A good, firm Stout, with a richness that lingers on the finish - Id even say it was tart. Smooth and flat in the mouth, this seemed to warm quickly, but then again the pub was hot! A good general Stout.

Note: Salamander also brew another stout (Black Stuff) that is also 4.5%. BeerMad lists these as different beers and they taste different to me.. Black stout. Straight up stoutish aroma. Slightly sweet to taste with subtle darjeeling notes.
