Special sparging techniques give this beer the look of a porter without the roast or chocolate malt notes. Large boil and dry hop additions create the flavor and aroma of an IPA. A moderate Munich malt bill and the addition of flaked barley give this brew a smooth mouth feel. Named after the quintessential North Idaho 90’s rock band Black Happy!

On Tap at Brewforia Beer Market, Meridian, ID Nearly black, very full and dense light tan head. Nitro looking. Heavy sticky sheets of tan lacing. Moderate roasted aroma, bitter roasted IBU bite. Not huge on flavor, but dry and quick and sharp. Not bad

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2017 At SRB brewpub in McCall, Idaho on the last day of Winter Carnival and of course Super Bowl Sunday. Pint pour was dark brown with a tan head. Great lacing rings. Nose is roasted malts. Medium body and a very smooth mouth feel. Flavor of rich roasted malts and piney hops. Lightly bitter finish Very easy drinking.

Nice pour at the McCall pub over the weekend... Pours fairly hazy even for a black brew... decent enough tannish head... short lived drapes of lacing. Nose is pretty big piney hops with a good hit of dark toast and a hint of roast/coffee malt. Flavor mirrors the aroma with a nice bitterness up front. Very tasty and proper Black IPA. Body is light/medium with good carbonation.... very drinkable and even quaffable despite the slightly larger ABV.

On tap at Salmon river pub. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts pine needles and some bread. Taste is as the nose with a good hop and dark malt combo.

Tap: Dark brown, with a tan head. The aroma is typical and pleasant but the flavors left me hoping for more. Kind of sharp in the flavor with a thin finish.
