History: Shropshire Gold was first brewed in July 1998. We had decided that a brew was needed that could compete with the session beers produced by National brewers such as Bass as well as other local producers. We decided to make a beer that would have a rich gold colour to please the eye, a full rich flavour to make it appeal to those who preferred a stronger beer, and a pronounced hop character to please everyone! This concept obviously worked as sales have increased markedly year on year. Shropshire Gold now makes up over half the production of the brewery and is listed as the house beer in at least 40 local outlets, a testimony to a consistent product and a keen price.

JorgeLee (2167) - Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 7, 2015
Cask in the Elephant and Castle W8. They changed the barrels midway through our session and ended up drinking the heavy stuff first and this last, not quite ideal! Pale golden colour, thin head. A pleasant enough bitter, some fruity hop, a slightly grainy body.

Theydon_Bois (20171) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2014
Cask at the Carpenters Arms, Tourist Town Zentrum, 19/12/14. Clear golden orange with a decent off white covering that retains well. Nose is pale malt, citric peel, orange, straw. Taste comprises grassy hops, bitter orange, lemon rind, hint of soft bread, melon, straw. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close peppered with light grassy hop bitternress. Decent Golden Blonde ... bitter???

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 27 Apr 2014) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots, peaches and a touch of toast. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, toasty malt and a certain citric bitterness in the finish. Light body, with balanced sweetness. Middle-of-the-roadish, but tasty and highly drinkable. Quite nice.

Cask @ OT. Pours tiny hazy golden with a rather small rocky offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is subtle and tiny malty with grains, bread, grass, lemon zest and hints of soil. Taste is bitter and floral with buttered bread, moist grass, grains, wormwood, orange peal, lemon peal and soil. Mouthfeel is soft, flat, watery, astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter with bread, toffee, wormwood, orange peal and grass. Ok...
