History: Shropshire Gold was first brewed in July 1998. We had decided that a brew was needed that could compete with the session beers produced by National brewers such as Bass as well as other local producers. We decided to make a beer that would have a rich gold colour to please the eye, a full rich flavour to make it appeal to those who preferred a stronger beer, and a pronounced hop character to please everyone! This concept obviously worked as sales have increased markedly year on year. Shropshire Gold now makes up over half the production of the brewery and is listed as the house beer in at least 40 local outlets, a testimony to a consistent product and a keen price.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 27 Apr 2014) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots, peaches and a touch of toast. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, toasty malt and a certain citric bitterness in the finish. Light body, with balanced sweetness. Middle-of-the-roadish, but tasty and highly drinkable. Quite nice.

Cask @ OT. Pours tiny hazy golden with a rather small rocky offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is subtle and tiny malty with grains, bread, grass, lemon zest and hints of soil. Taste is bitter and floral with buttered bread, moist grass, grains, wormwood, orange peal, lemon peal and soil. Mouthfeel is soft, flat, watery, astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter with bread, toffee, wormwood, orange peal and grass. Ok...

500ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma, notes of lemon tea, lemon. Taste is initially minimally grainy, rapidly supplanted by fruity hoppy notes, again lemon tea, lemon, a strawy touch, subtle sweetness; light body, almost a bit watery. Light and simple, but tasty and refreshing.

Bottle @ Dean to Mouth tasting, courtesy of Benzai. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is malty, sweet and honey. Flavor is fairly bitter, grainy and malty again. Easy drinking, light mouthfeel. Not so interesting, but decent stuff.

Bottle at the "Lets celebrate the fact that Dean is already the Mayor of M&S Den Haag even though its only been open for 24 hours tasting!". Poured a clear straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is hop citrus. The flavour is medium bitter with a grapefruit citrus palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not a bad brew!
