Cask conditioned at The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton, London. Dark brown with off white head. The roasted malt flavours are definitely there, maybe a little thin, but charred husk notes and chocolate, however; I didn’t get the hops very much, there wasn’t the prominence I was expecting. A touch disappointing.

Very dark IPA with a strong cream coloured head. Good lacing. Tastes rather like strong Coca Cola with alcohol and a dash of espresso. Very drinkable.

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall London as Saltaire Cascadian Black. Almost black with the slightest red hue and a foamy light brown head that is pock-marked and a little scummy. Full lacing. Aroma is airy, light Pepsi. Body is smooth with soft to tingly carbonation. Taste is a little chewy sweet up front, cola cube and Frosties sweets, little background grassy resin hop. Tangy with cocktail bitters in cola. It's ok but not the nicest CDA I've had by any means. (5-3-5-4-13=3.0)

Handpump at Euston Tap in London. Black pour with brownish highlights, ivory tick foam. Nose: American fresh hoppy notes, roast very far away. Mouth: sweet easy start, a bit roast but not unpleasant, fruity finish. Lovely! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

allmyvinyl (10929) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 14, 2016
Cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Pours clear dark ruby brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light chocolate orange. Taste is light bitter, faint roast. Thin finish.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - close to opaque black with a decent head. Nose - liquorice and charcoal. Taste - more liquorice. Imagining some dark fruits. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - more of a light dry stout than a black ipa.

harrisoni (19159) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 3, 2015
Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2015. Bottled and drunk on the train home. Dark brown black beer. Chocolate aroma. Chocolate and lime flavour in the mouth. Decent chocolate not too roasted. Likeable.

3.1
Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2014
Cask at Pi, Altrincham. Near black shade. Nice head, lace. Can’t fault the appearance. Roasted malt and grape fruitiness in the aroma. Taste is a step down. Seems very lacking in hop flavour and bitterness. Soft subdued roasty taste instead. Bit of a let down.
