A very pleasant black ipa. The smell is a bit underwhelming, the first taste is a little fleeting. The taste itself is very good with bitter roasted malts and coffee with fresh flowery hops. The aftertaste is pleasant, not very long. Very good taste, but a little bit small aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy (iOs)

Cask conditioned at York Beer Festival ’16. Very dark chestnut with cream head. Darkly roasted malts lead the way here, liquorice hints with a slightly tarry edge then a tangy citrus note comes through. Hoppy and bitter in the close. Very pleasant.

Bottle as a birthday gift from Chris. Cheers! Pours mahogany with a decent frothy cream head. The aroma is mostly cocoa with a hint of tropical fruit. The taste is spicy with pine notes before coffee and dark chocolate. Nice lingering bitter finish. There’s a really good balance between the malt and hops in this. Quite light and refreshing making it easy drinking. Very good. The best beer I’ve had from this brewery by some distance.

500ml bottle from Beer Ritz. Very dark brown, reasonable head. Toffee chocolate hop aroma. Sweet fruity malt flavour. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Not a big hoppy Black IPA but still quite good.

50cl bottle at home from beerritz, uk. Body is dark brown, head is small, beige, slightly fizzy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Nose is light roasty, flavor is mild coffee, light licorice, spices, vanilla, watery. Light sweet, medium bitter. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium bitter, later hoppy. Medium body, thin dry texture, average carbonation. Easy roasty beer, boring first, quite good later.

Cask @ West Riding Rooms, Dewsbury. Clear and dark, but not black with a creamy off-white head. Has a small sweetness but mainly a roasted malt aroma and taste.
