Onesimus (104) - Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 27, 2017
Admiral Benbow Chapel St Leonard's Promenade Despite being called "red" in the evening dusky light it's more a rich golden brown. Adorned by a one finger fine light beige head that had excellent lacing and a lingering presence. Nose is a restrained fruity citrus and caramel malts with hints of bread Mouthfeel is a medium lush and creamy, smooth and slick with a soft carbonation. Initially a light short lived malt sweetness in the middle of the tongue that is quickly surrounded by on the sharper citrus bitterness on the sides and back of the tongue that intensifies before the long legged smooth pithy finish on the back of your tongue complimented by a salty sensation. This is a workout for the taste buds.

tombyars (1776) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - APR 26, 2017
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) on the 25th April 2017. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper in colour with a thin creamy pale buff head. Nice fragrant hop aroma, long on the nose. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Strong malt backbone gives digestive biscuit with rye grain present in the mouth. Bitter hop resins impart a pink grapefruit flavour to the dry aftertaste. Finish is hoppy with grapefruit pith and oak cask notes again dry on the palate. A decent Amber Ale.

Towey1989 (3326) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2017
Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear deep amber colour with a medium off white head. Aroma of toasted malts, caramel, some coffee, slight toast, a little orange, a hint of grapefruit, red berries and subtle spicy hops. Taste of toasted malts, caramel, hedgerow fruits, some coffee, a little burnt toast, a hint of red berries, slight orange, grapefruit and subtle spicy, grassy hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A long, dry, toasted fruit and spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Starts quite sweet, toasty and fruity and then the bitterness develops. Coffee and burnt toasted malt and subtle spicy citrus and grassy hops. A decent cask amber overall, just slightly unbalanced.

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon in Mar 2017 - Deep Reddish Brown colour. Large creamy off-white head. Toasty malts, grainy, caramel. Grapefruit citrus. Moderate hop bitterness. Sweet-bitter malty fruity throughout. Lingering bitter finish. Good. (2017-03)

wheresthepath (2405) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2017
Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Deep amber with a moderate fizz and a negligible off-white head. Great marmalade on toast flavour with a side order of blackcurrant jam. A little twist of spice too. Full-flavoured and very drinkable. Well balanced bitterness. Flavours maybe fade a little in the finish but still a good brew. I’m not normally a fan of this brewery but they’ve done well here.
