It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Pours clear amber with a medium beige head, very fine lacing, excellent retention. Malty aroma; caramel, biscuit, hay. Light body, smooth, lively. Lightly sweet and nutty, light bitter finish with some nice earthy notes. Very drinkable and refreshing.

12oz bottle, stemware @ 55F - Dark amber, no head. nose is pretty nonexistent, maybe some burnt malts? Caramel, brown sugar, apple, pear, etc. but very little taste.

Pours a amber color with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts and some hops. The taste is similar. For the style it’s a great beer.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2015 Hands down the greatest light beer I have ever tasted. I don’t drink a lot of light beer but sometimes after the holiday gorge it’s not a bad idea to substitute a 6 pack of these in the rotation here and there, I don’t care what beer snobs say. Nice caramel, light hops, clean and refreshing. An American light beer that tastes good with no adjuncts.

Look: pours an amber color. White head. Very clear. Smell: lager malt smell. Sweet malts caramel. Bready biscuit. Taste: sweet caramel malt. Biscuit. Feel: very thin mouth feel. Medium carbonation. Overall: odd flavor just due to the age. First drank: home 1/6/15 Vintage: January 2013

I’ve gotta say, this ain’t half bad at all. Tastes just like a watered down Boston Lager, but that’s a good thing too. Very nice alternative for a weekday brew when you just want to wet the whistle without getting all torn up for next morning.

"for a light beer, one of the best, but that’s not really saying that much. None of the bad qualities that typically infiltrate the cheaper light beers, it’s just a thinner, less exciting version of their flagship beer."

Luvystypotables (2047) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - OCT 16, 2014
Aroma of malt, copper color short last creamy white head. Sweet malt taste, with a creamy feel and a weak malt finish

Generically fine. I guess I prefer this to the BL,CL,MLs of the world, but really it is just about as nondescript as they get. Coppery appearance. Usual malty lager profile. Bready. Watery.
