It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, its not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Bottled. An amber beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma has notes of fruit and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel - but not enough malt, which makes it light bodied and boring.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, fully golden with a white head. Malty nose. Light and watery body with sweetish, lightly caramelish malt and again sweet notes of brewing cereal and brewing syrup. No bitterness. So not even Sam Adams managed to produce a pleasant lite beer. 300306

Weak hoppy aroma with grassy notes. Not much flavior at all. This is said to be one of the best light-beers in USA. I dont wanna think about the worst ones...

A: The pour is an amber/copper type color with a couple fingers of just off-white head. S: Smells like toasted malts and toffee. Sweet but not terribly so with some slight floral hop aromas. A touch of biscuity malts are there too. Sort of like a less bold Boston Lager. T: The slightly watered down Boston Lager comparison is appropriate here too. Some nice toffee (and maybe caramel) flavor with some floral hops and just a touch of bitterness. Mild toast and biscuit notes. M: On the light side of medium in body with a moderate carbonation. O: Definitely not what most of us think of when it comes to a light lager, but this is still a good choice.

Backlog. Pours amber with white head. Nose and taste of grassy hop, light caramel malt, light bread and toasted grain. Lighter body.

Pours well. A nice amber color and a decent beige head. Aroma sort of a standard macro with a bit of caramel - this is a big improvement. Theres some noble hop to go with the caramel. Pretty thin in body, and the carbonation is fizzy. The flavor is caramel, not all that light either, and the expected hop. It is almost crisp, and pretty clean. At 128 calories this is way more flavorful than should be possible. More hop and this could really be something.
