The first Ale in our seasonal range, Powerhouse Porter is our modern take on this classic London beer style.
Powerhouse is named in association with our local landmark Battersea Power Station.
We brew with a combination of brown, chocolate, crystal and pale malts and hop with a blend of Fuggles, Boadicea, Challenger and Fuggles. Powerhouse Porter is 4.9% ABV with a rich, dark chocolate flavour and an aroma of toasted malt and winter fruits.

Cask @ The Kings Arms, after a frustrating (if relieving) Chelsea victory. The pour’s deep reddish brown with a bubbly off-white head. The nose is big raspberry, hints of roasted grain, mildly astringent apple peel. The taste is more berry fruits. After acclimating to the the initial berry taste, a real strong red apple cider taste started to dominate. Little roast malt or dry coffee flavors present. This beer definitely has taken a funky infection on. Light body, soft. Overall, I can’t say the infection made this beer undrinkable, it just turned it into something that doesn’t resemble the beer described by other reviewers. Re-rate needed.

Cask, Tap on the Line. Deep reddish brown black colour. White foam. Good rich dark beer, at the sweeter end of the spectrum, some toasty nuts, hint of roast, malt loaf, fruit. Medium finish. Quite a tasty pint.

(old bottle) murky deep brown colour with a frothy light-beige head. aroma of brown sugar and caramel, very sweet, with some notes of dark chocolate, heavy raisins and toasted malts. flavour is more brown sugar and chocolate liqueur, some earth, fudge and a semi-dry toasted grainy finish. medum-bodied with average carbnation.

You wouldn’t call this distinctive but it pretty much ticks all the boxes. Dark but not opaque with a decent thick head and a restrained flavour of slightly overdone toast, it is a typical London porter and none the worse for that. Recommended but so are many others.

Fairly decent porter that rolls off the tongue easily but overall feels watery and a bit too simple. Nonetheless, an enjoyable pint

Handpump at The Harp, London. Black tough clear pour with reddish highlights, creamy head much retention. Nose: soft oxidation, leather, cherries a bit. Mouth: quite watery and truly dry, some character comes up when you sip it again and again. Infused coffee and some red fruit. The other side of Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ The Harp, London, UK. Pours with a dark red clear colour, medium long lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma is medium malty, with some notes of roasted malt, and slightly hoppy. Medium sweet, slightly bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. I think this is not a porter: I don’t know what it is, but it certainly isn’t a porter.
