UPDATED: SEP 2, 2008 Burned sugary aroma. Dark red brown. Caramel flavors, hops hidden in the background. Lightbodied as expected. quite interessting. Nice after a day on the Autobahn :-)

Fine brown color, light caramel taste, overall sweet nad fine, very low alcohol dunkel.

This was a nice surpise. Very malty nose, like one of those canned brown breads, with a little straw or grain smell. Emminently drinkable -- dark syrup, molasses, malt flavor but with a medium body. My only mild complaint was a little bit of tart clinginess in the palate. Leans a little to the sweetish side, but this is a new value fave.

Nice, sweet, malty aroma upon pouring. Head is abundant and dark cream colored with some lacing. Appearance is like strong tea. Flavor is reminicent of a dopplebock - very malty with some sweet caramel-like undertones. Holds up well throughout the whole pint. Good find at a neighborhood liquor store.

pivo (2685) - GERMANY - DEC 15, 2002
Sulfury, sour milk-like nose with a hint of grains. Clear amber/brown color and a foamy tan head. Light caramel tastes with a sour middle. Finish like a weak coffee you’d get in a diner in Jersey. Oily mouth feel. Overall not so good.

YogiBeera (2569) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 14, 2002
Malt, grain, barn smell. Red brown, nearly no head. Medium sweet malt taste, but very thin.

OlJuntan64 (1265) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 9, 2002
Red brown dark cola clear with small short lasting head. Faint roasted maly and stronger sweet caramel molasses aroma. Body was a touch thin for my taste. Medium roasted malt and faint sweet cola flavoured start and middle. Mild bittersweet finish and aftertaste. Interesting but maybe others woudl find it more so.

BillKismet (4076) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 19, 2002
Dark brown, moderate carbonation, with an amber tinge and with a thick, adequate head. Easy bock malt aroma with the appearance of molasses. Easy to quaff malt roast--this beer seems like a fairly typical, nicely crafted, munich dunkel.

Inveigler (371) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - SEP 11, 2002
This beer was way too unbalanced for a decent rating. Grainy grainy grainy. It tasted like they boiled the malts rather than mashed them. Strange sweet aftertaste which reminded me of sachrin. This is not a brew that I would seek out in the future.
