Not bad, but certainly not as good as Rogue Imperial Stout. Still, looks and smells good. Cool bottle.

pours a nice dark brown with a big dark tan head. This beer tastes like sour dark fruits, earthy dark chocolate and finishes with a bitter sour taste.

Complex beer, as are all the barrel rooms I’ve tried. Not much at the beginning. Middle has hints of fruit and oak. Bitter finish with a spice aftertaste that lingers. Overall decent but not memorable. A solid stout in general, but had better. Definitely not the best of the barrel room line.

Shared at the local homebrew Christmas party. Dark pour with a tan head. Aroma is a weird funk and maybe some chocolate. Definitely burned aromas. Taste is woody, sour, awkward fruit, and roasted grains. Terrible finish. Weird beer.

Pour is cool large tan head that sticks to glass. Dark brown to black in color. Sweet and bitter. Yeast and a wine note with a little chocolate.

Bottle as shown. Pours a dark amber with a small beige head that lasts awhile. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet raisin malt and light roast with sweet finish. A good Imperial stout,

UPDATED: DEC 25, 2012 750 ml. bottle. Opaque black with a small ring of bubbles. Nose is sour berries and cocoa. Taste is tart blackberry, dates, plums, coffee, clove and hints of oak and cocoa. Medium-heavy body has medium carbonation and is well balanced, with a well hidden 9%.

GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Black pour with a dark brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, oak, chocolate, fruity. Taste is sweet, chocolate, spicy, oak, roasted malt. The dk fruit flavor came out more as the beer warmed up. A nice tasty beer, nice lacing. Thanks for another tasty beer Mr. Koch.

Okay, first off this is not a stout. It’s a sour with stout/chocolate sweet notes, Aroma is of dates/cherries, chocolate, with a note of medium roast coffee. Definitely strong on the dried fruit. I feel like this is primarily a Belgian style ale with notes of a stout. All of the flavors they describe are there. This tastes like sour chocolate. I love the aroma........

Beautiful bottle. Hints of sherry, oak, sweet vanilla as well as dark chocolate. Good foam and great finish. Smooth dark ale.
