Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a dark black stout with a thick development of foam head which eventually retreated. Aroma is surprisingly faint with all traces of this being an impy stout have been erased from the barrel aging process, however, the oak barrels are the only noticeable smell I gain through my nose. The drink is harsh with a stinging taste of tart tannins while a semi-sweet sugary taste of malts and slight burn from the alcohol finish this beer on a wrong note. Maybe it has too many months on the shelf since this was released awhile ago and hasnt had the most ideal bottle aging conditions but this is my current standing.

Bottle/Fest. A- Sour cherry, black cherry, subtle oak, slightly sour. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Tart cherry, medium sourness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Much more of a sour ale than a stout, let alone an imperial stout. Lots of black cherry and cola flavors and not so much coffee or chocolate. Nonetheless, its tasty.

Bottle from a mixed box of unknown origin and age. Overall this is busy beer. It is dominated by a sourness from the barrel treatment. You get a little malt from the base beer but not much. Good taste but definitely not a traditional stout.

Black, with a ring of foam. Smells like coffee, burnt toast, and some pit frit and red wine. I get some cinnamon or something like that as well. Taste is coffee and chocolate, of course, and some spices like maybe cinnamon again, then ginger, or cardamon? Notes of raisin and red wine pop up again. Also a weird peat-y note, although I dont see anything about that in the description.

A dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma has a wild mixture of black cherry, plum, vanilla, and oak. It has a medium body with lively carbonation. The taste is tart with an almost sour finish. This one may have been infected.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a dark brown almost black with tan head. Aroma is robust chocolate with some caramel and toffee. Taste doesn't live up to the expectation. Some sour funk. Weird combination of the Belgian yeast and spices with the chocolate and coffee. Not bad but not as good as most Sam Adams beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very balanced flavor which is more sour than sweet. Dark brown color with fluffy tan head. I cant pick out the 13 ingredients!
