pours black with a large tan head.very little lacing on my glass.when the beer was first poured the aroma was a little sour.that aroma decreased as the head went down.definitly picking up the spice,chocolate,licorice and the oak is very faint as well with the coffee.flavor is chocolate,coffee,slight oak and licorice.medium body with heavy carbonation.oily fizzy mouthfeel with a bitter astringent finish.alchohol is well hidden but is warming in the finish.overall this beer is unique but not well balanced.the astrigency of this beer seems to take center stage throughout drinking it.
Bottle at the brewery. Belgian stout. Medium brown. Thin head that dissipates quickly.. Has some of the really woody kmf base (15%). There's chocolate, bit of tartness, touch of fruitier elements, barrel.

Black color. Nice , beige head. Aroma of raisins, chocolate, roasted malt and oak . Taste is on a sweet side with notes of dark fruits, vanilla and chocolate. Moderate, roasted bitterness.

January 21, 2014 - with blankboy, jercraigs & mabel - 750ml bottle. Bright deep clear ruby with a smallish tan head. Smells like a Belgiun dark ale - caramel, sweet yeast/spice, fairly floral, definite alcohol - wait, this is an impy?? Taste follows, more roast and bitterness - still not all that stout-like, mercifully understated barrel character, but where’s the chocolate and coffee? Very close to a Raisinet stout, with a massive raisin-cherry sweetness underscored by heavy notes of chocolate and cola. Oak comes across very, very weak, with the esters providing most of the complexity. Starts sugary and stays that way, growing increasingly cloy as the pint warms. Finishes with a bready ribbon of yeast mixing with a mild woodsy bitterness.The pour is troublesome as well, coming out a thin, dark brown with a fizzy beige head and no lace. Nose is fruity Belgian esters on top of a single chocolate chip. Alcohol is hidden, but the fizzy texture puts me off. Man, Sam Adams just can’t get this barrel-aging thing right. Thirteenth Hour is a pretty distinct Imperial Stout from a brewery that isn’t know for making a lot of them. This brew has some intriguing Belgian leanings. It pours almost black with a malty, fruity, and subtly spicy nose. It has chocolate, cherry, plum, raisin, and currant flavors. It’s full-bodied and bittersweet. This brew is complex and unique.

A- Sour cherry, black cherry, subtle oak, slightly sour.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head.
T- Tart cherry, medium sourness.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish.

Bottle from a mixed box of unknown origin and age. Overall this is busy beer. It is dominated by a sourness from the barrel treatment. You get a little malt from the base beer but not much. Good taste but definitely not a traditional stout. Suttree (6484) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 19, 2016
Black, with a ring of foam. Smells like coffee, burnt toast, and some pit frit and red wine. I get some cinnamon or something like that as well. Taste is coffee and chocolate, of course, and some spices like maybe cinnamon again, then ginger, or cardamon? Notes of raisin and red wine pop up again. Also a weird peat-y note, although I don’t see anything about that in the description.
