Black colour, small brown thich creamy head which vanishes quite quickly though. Aroma is raisins, some alcohol, ripe fruits and some toffee. Flavour is ripe fruits, plum, alcohol, mild toast, and very sweet.
Draft at Churchkey’s 5th anniversary, courtesy of Bryan’s friend and Eric, thanks! Opaque dark brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of lightly funky coffee. Taste is cocoa, coffee, just enough of a touch of funk to be noticeable but not overwhelming. Light body. Nice one. cgarvieuk (24462) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 6, 2015

Bottle thanks to James, 30/12/15.
Black with a decent tan covering.
Nose is dark fruits, toffee, light menthol, spice, jammy berry fruit, light chocolate.
Taste comprises rich dark fruits, spice, dates, toffee, yeast esters, nana, light chocolate.
Full bodied, prickly carbonation but aids the drinkability, light warming booze in the close.
Ok ... more a Belgian strong for me, an adequate one at that. Low end for an impy.

Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2011. Black beer, brown head. Malty vinous aroma, figs and raisins. Malty vinous flavor, tar and licorice, a bit sourish. mcberko (17816) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 25, 2013
750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / black with a tiny beige head. Nose is full of Belgian spice, some oak and slight cocoa notes. Flavour is similar, with Belgian spice and oak predominantly, with subdued cocoa notes. Almost a little metallic, but more oaky than anything. Very light-bodied for the style, but fitting due to the Belgian influence. A surprisingly strong beer from Samuel Adams. TBone (17528) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 20, 2013

Dark ruby color, small brown head. Papery malty, slightly toasted aroma. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, chocolate, a bit tart maybe. Thinnish for this ABV.
Bottle, 75cl corked. A dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Perhaps a bit weak aroma, with raisins, dried figs, some chocolate and roasted malts. Some funky, spiced notes too. It’s full-bodied, soft and lightly warming on the palate, with flavors of raisins, dried figs, some brown sugar and roasted malts, and a little touch of chocolate. Nice carbonation level and bitterness that suits the sweetness. Lasting finish. Perhaps a bit too subtle this one, but at least it drinks easy. 150612 jtclockwork (16581) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 2, 2016
