This was labeled Sample A for Sam Adams 2010 Beer Lovers Choice Longshot competition.
Sample A, a Belgian-style IPA, is an incredibly complex beer that begins with the fruity, sweet, slightly tart and spicy characteristics of Belgian ale yeast. The blend of malts, including a traditional slow-roasted Czech variety, adds a crisp, slightly roasty note. This is complemented by a combination of German and American hops, which add complex notes of eucalyptus, pine and citrus. The beer finishes with the distinct hop bitterness expected from an IPA, immediately demanding a second sip.

Had this while camping at BCTC this year. Pours a clear gold and light brown amber gold with a thin white head. Soft Belgian yeast, light hops and citrus. Yeast and wheat. Gentle long lasting bitterness. Very tasty. Definitely liked this one better than the other one.

Deep amber pour. The nose is nice and spicy. Lots of bright and spicy/fruity hops over a fairly fruity and spicy yeastiness. Citrus and tropical fruity hoppiness over a bright lingering bitterness. Lightly peppery but decent.

Sample "A" bottle shared at Flossmoor pre-DLD Black party: Not many notes... Faded and oxidized with some Belgian yeast influenences, roasty and bready malts, some herbal notes, slighty fruity and twangy, soft carbonation, way past its prime.
