Bottle sample at a Samuel Adams tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Very dark brown to black with a pretty, light brown head. Roasty aroma with lots of coffee beans and a bit of dark chocolate. Sweetish roasty flavor, slightly acidic, with lots of coffee. Medium-bodied. Decent. Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted coffee flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where exceeded.

Bottle from a sampler. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Average head retention. Aroma of coffee, milk, toasted malts and a bit of roast. The taste is coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and bitter hops in the finish. A faint banana-like fruitiness. Medium bodied. Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 22, 2011
Pours pretty much black with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of black coffee and chocolate malt. Medium-bodied with a roasty coffee character and notes of malt and dark chocolate. The finish is mildly bitter with a lingering espresso aftertaste. A beer that only a coffee lover would truly enjoy. Pretty enjoyable all around. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - NOV 10, 2011
(12oz bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted grain, dark chocolate, soil, light charred bread, and caramel. Flavor of coffee, roasted black malt, and dark chocolate. j12601 (13033) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Bottle. Pours a deep black with a dense medium to thick tan head. Loads of roast, deep coffee, very roasty. Soft vanilla sugar note, caramel. Medium bodied, roast, coffee, chocolate, but overall emptier than the aromas would indicate. Still good body and flavor. Coffee, roast and more cocoa on the finish. slowrunner77 (12591) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 27, 2014
"nice addition to the holiday pack! pours a deep dark brown, near black w/tan head. at first the aroma i was expecting wasn’t there, so the explosion of roasted malt and coffee on the palate came as a bit of a surprise. But the aroma opened up eventually too. Coffee dominated in a good way. A little thin, but about right for this style (it’s not an imperial after all). Well done."
