Pours a dark, almost opaque black with ruby highlights and a thin, off-white head. Roasted malt aroma with a touch of hops. Surprisingly good for a Sam Adams. Almost black with ruby coloring. Lacing, and a fairly large head that never quite disappears. Coffee and raspberry aroma. Bottle. Dark brown/red with a good tan head. Caramel nose with some hops present in the aroma as well. Creamy medium body with flavors of caramel, roasted malt and bread dough. Deep opaque brown in the glass with hints of ruby around the edges. A frothy cappuccino colored head, Man is this beer lacy. Lots of fine lace. Sweet roasted malt in the nose. Lightly bitter. Like cappuccino, milky and lightly bitter.
Taste is alternately sweet and bitter. Milky with a light coffee bitterness. Very well balanced. Lightly nutty. Very creamy in the mouth with a long sticky aftertaste. Really drinkable.
Not all their beers are mindblowing but Sam Adams beer are always extremely well crafted. It is appreciated.

Pours a deep red/bown with a creamy tan head leaving thick lines of lacing. The aroma is of malt and chocolate malt, with a faint hop presence. The mouthfeel is full and finishes relatively dry. I have had 3 or 4 examples of this style, so I am not all that experienced with it, but this is a good beer. The chocolate range of roastiness is stronger than in other examples and the finish is relatively full and dry. Bottle. Opaque blackness residing underneath mocha colored foam. Nose is chocolaty with roasted malts, light coffee, caramel, sugary sweetness and light bittersweet notes. Taste is sweeter than expected. Big chocolate, caramel, light roasty notes, sweet malts, light bittersweet notes and traces of sweetened coffee. Body is light-medium with mild carbonation feel and at times is extremely creamy. Finish is dark chocolate, chocolate milk, creamy malts, light roastiness, sweetened coffee and caramel. Dark ruby color with a thin head. Strong coffee aroma with some sour overtones. More coffee and caramel in the flavor with slightly burned, roasted, goodness. Damn tasty brew!
