3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a deep brown with caramel highlights. Aroma is a burnt toffee, a hint of smoke. Taste is sweet roast with the bitterness of coffee mixed in. Creamy and oily mouthfeel. Nice for the style.
Not what I expected. When I saw the word Shwarzbier I was expecting a bitter coffee soy sauce taste like Guinness stout, but it's actually light, sweet and drinkable.
Taste of toast and malt and slight taste of chocolate.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2017 Bottle. It poured a cola color with a beige head that disipated quickly. The aroma is light cocoa with some smokiness. The tastes has a minimal amount of sweetness to it. Very drinkable. 05barnold (44) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 8, 2017
Poured from the bottle. Thin white head. Black in color. Aroma is the only disappointment in this beer. Deep flavors that don't fill you up. I would definitely purchase and drink again.

Clean beer. Some chocolate and coffee with a mild bitter finish. Mix pack fodder but pretty tasty. bigcat03 (333) - Columbus, Nebraska, USA - SEP 2, 2017
Deep Brown color with a small beige head. Caramel, roasted malt, vanilla in the aroma. Initial taste is bold and roasty with a hint of vanilla. Aftertaste has hints of coffee. Body is a smooth medium and carbonation is lively. The first Sam Adams in a sample pack that I've enjoyed in with a while!

My favorite from Sam Adams! Caramel is delicious. Also not too heavy on the hopping. tfontana (1045) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 19, 2017
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Hannaford. Appearance is dark brown/mahogany with nice sparkle, 1.5-finger width light brown head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, toffee, cocoa, earth. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and bittersweet roasted malt finish. Overall, pretty true to the description. Good.
