COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

A good, hearty beer. Well balanced in flavor, aroma, and, and palate. It’s a good beer while watching football.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2017 Bottle. It poured a cola color with a beige head that disipated quickly. The aroma is light cocoa with some smokiness. The tastes has a minimal amount of sweetness to it. Very drinkable.

Poured from the bottle. Thin white head. Black in color. Aroma is the only disappointment in this beer. Deep flavors that don't fill you up. I would definitely purchase and drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clean beer. Some chocolate and coffee with a mild bitter finish. Mix pack fodder but pretty tasty.

Deep Brown color with a small beige head. Caramel, roasted malt, vanilla in the aroma. Initial taste is bold and roasty with a hint of vanilla. Aftertaste has hints of coffee. Body is a smooth medium and carbonation is lively. The first Sam Adams in a sample pack that I've enjoyed in with a while!

(12oz bottle) AROMA: roasted malt, veggie/green, metallic, coffee APPEARANCE: dark dark brown, almost black, creamy tan head (almost stout-like), TASTE: soft roasted malt, mild chocolate and coffee, dried fruit/prune, PALATE: relatively full body, creamy/oily, round, soft, slow linger of bitterness and flavor. OVERALL: not bad, a very drinkable dark lager, well balanced, good body, not overly rich but chewy/yummy enough

My favorite from Sam Adams! Caramel is delicious. Also not too heavy on the hopping.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Hannaford. Appearance is dark brown/mahogany with nice sparkle, 1.5-finger width light brown head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, toffee, cocoa, earth. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and bittersweet roasted malt finish. Overall, pretty true to the description. Good.

Heavy and bitter for a lager. Sone anise in the taste. Plenty of malt. A decent beer.
