Samuel Adams® Boston Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of our Boston Brewery. Like Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, it was an old family recipe that was rescued by Jim Koch from his father’s attic. Samuel Adams® Boston Ale, a Stock Ale, has a complex, caramel malt character balanced with distinct spicy and herbal hop notes. Our proprietary ale yeast imparts a variety of fruit and ester notes in both the nose and flavor which are indicative of the style. Stock Ale, one of the few classic beer styles to have originated in the United States, has a strong New England heritage. The style draws its name from the cool "stock cellars" in which it was aged. This technique imparted a smoothness and body which became the hallmark of this style. Keeping with the Stock Ale style, Samuel Adams® Boston Ale is fermented at cooler almost lager like temperatures and conditioned much longer than most ales. It also is Krausened and dry hopped.

Bottle poured into tumbler. Appearance is a clear copper with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is a lot of malt with a little caramel and sweet fruit. Taste is similar, but it’s a tad yeasty rather than fruity. Good feel. Overall, it’s not great, but not bad either.

Pours clear light brown , minimal head. Aroma,is pleasant caramel malt, hi rd of plummet fruitless. Aroma starts with sweet caramel, then hop bite, finishes more yeasty. Taste doesnt hang together quite,as well as the aroma, but a pleasant, fairly light flavorful beer.

Schmeckt malzig süß, leicht bitter, leicht alkoholisch, minimal fruchtig.

I used to love this app BEFORE this latest update that forces you to login but even more annoying is the fact that you are forced to write a minimum 75 character comment when rating a beer.  ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

tfontana (1041) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - APR 27, 2017
On draft at T-Bones, Bedford, NH. Appearance is clear medium brown (like iced-tea) with nice sparkle, no head and no lacing. Aroma is biscuity malts. Taste is same as aroma. Palate is medium bodied with average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not bad but decidedly one dimensional and nondistinguishing.

thejackpacker (529) - East Sussex, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2017
Bottle from Danish supermarket. Maltty, lagery, heavy, no real character, flat and little taste. Meh.

Block (2894) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - APR 22, 2017
Draft at Yardbird and found out this was brewed by Boston Beer Company. A light pour, mild body, pale malts. Clean and straightforward.
Earlier Rating: 4/30/2012 Total Score: 2.6
Amber pour. Light malts on the aroma. A pretty straightforward and easy to drink beer. Went well with pizza. Not much going on. Sweet with a touch of hops, fairly well rounded. Some caramel mixed with pale malts. Lighter than Boston Lager.

Appearance and aroma are great although the taste does have a nice blend of sweet and hoppy. I feel this beer is missing something. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
