Amber color with a nice fluffy white head that quickly dissipated. Slight
hop aroma. Taste is crisp, clean with a mild hop bitterness. OK, but not that great. Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 11, 2004
Color is a pale amber, and a thick white head tops it off. Aroma is fresh and clean, sweet and malty, with herbal hints. Malt texture is excellent. Hops are in short supply, but there are enough to provide a little play on the palate. This lager is really all about the malt, though and it’s quite tasty, with a comfortable mouthfeel. Body is thoroughly on the thin side, and not 1/3 through the pint I’m feeling awfully bored. Not enough of what I like in a beer, but then I don’t normally drink this style. Well-constructed, and worth it’s popularity and prominence.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2004 I really like this beer. Nice and hoppy, more than I expected from the lager. The hops really do it for me. A nice option when all they have is macros. cstuartj (1020) - Washington, USA - JUL 6, 2004
On a hot day, in a cold glass, when nothing better is around... It’s a good drinkable beer. Nough said.

Good brew, nothing crazy special, but good none the less. will drink when selection is small, and s.a. light is n/a. but i did think this was a good overall beer. gsteph (325) - knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 4, 2004
Golden amber color with an off white head that is huge and foamy. Very hoppy aroma with some malty notes. Hoppy flavor with some floral notes and a little sweetness. Good beer that is very balanced. Dry finish. roder60 (1289) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 1, 2004
Got it on tap. Cloudy yellow gold appearance. Good froathy white head. Nice aroma of malt and flowers. Great sweet smooth taste with a bit of a spicy aftertaste. Good beer. BuckNaked (1230) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUN 29, 2004
Bottle & tap: The staple product of Boston Beer Co. A beer everyone in the states has probably seen or had at some point. Even with its wide distribution and macro-brewed status, this beer manages to taste better than average consistently. Dark amber/copper appearance in the glass with a frothy white head. Toasted malt, caramel and floral hops dominate the aroma, while the taste has sweet malt and bitter hops balance with a slight yeast flavor. Finishes crisp and dry. Best American lager you can buy, bar none. Nice dark amber color, reminds you you’re not drinking a normal north american lager. Hard NOT to like this beer.
