Samuel Adams Boston Lager® is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by Jim Koch and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops.

nice flavor, but with a watery body.........................................

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2018 La bière de Boston, de plus en plus répandue en France maintenant. Nettement plus de goût que la Budweiser mais trop amère et moins facile à boire que nombre de bières US. Celles de Chicago (Goose Island) sont tops.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2018 Malty aroma, hint of caramel, medium bodied beer, just the right amount of hops for a lager. Smooth crisp finish best served ice cold from a bottle or frosted glass.

Not entirely sure how i never rated this before, it's one of the classics that started a revolution in my birth continent ;) to my current taste it seems overhopped for the style, some caramel but not nearly enough for the type, perhaps due to competition from other US micros, perhaps because i've avoided Sam for a while (tall glass at EWR TA)

0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with lovely Anja. Clear golden, small off-white head. Lightly hoppy - fruity and citrus, lightly grainy. Light bitterness, shows its hoppy profile. Light to medium body, moderate to high carbonation, light finish. As expected.

Bottle (4,9%). Clear cupper with medium head. Aroma is malty and sweet with notes of orange and honey. Taste is likewise but with the addition of notes of herbs. Nice long lasting finish. One of the best beers labeled "Lager" Ive tried so far.

14. 12. 2017, Ljubljana. Bottled. A bit oragngey hue to golden colur. Small head. Somewhat special taste, a bit tart but pleasant. Unusual for a lager. Light bodied mouthfeel, drinkable. But that is about it.

Pretty average lager. Nothing offensive or great about it. Aroma is what you would expect. Tastes of a fairly standard lager. Enjoyable but forgettable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bouteille de 355 ml. Couleur rousse avec un joli col blanc. Arôme de céréales brûlés et de pain. Goût de fruits séchés et de céréales avec une légère amertume agréable. Bonne lager.

Awesome beer, caramel notes with a bit of nutty flavor as well. A really solid lager. One of my favorites. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet, malty, caramel taste with bitter, hoppy twist. For a lager good complexity, the pleasant lingering aftertaste is the best part. A bit heavy on the sweetness maybe. Interesting style for a change but unlickely to become one of my favourites.
