12 oz. bottle Pours dark reddish brown with some ruby highlights. One finger off white head. Aroma is cherry cough drops with maybe a hint of chocolate. Flavor is chocolate covered cherries, the cheap ones in the Whitman Sampler, not the real good ones from a chocolatier. Medium bodied with a cherry cough syrup finish. Not a bad beer, but a poor replacement for the Holiday Porter that used to be in the Christmas 12 pack. Wittales (762) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 21, 2013
Appearance was reddish black with diminishing tan creamy 1/2 head, no lacing. Aromas are brown sugar, cherry, chocolate, hints of coffee, no alcohol. Taste are dominate cherry sherry, chocolate, maple, toffee and coffee. Palate are soft creamy smooth CO2 with medium body, easy going smooth cherry sweet chocolate finish. A solid stout, but tad to much cherry and sweetness. JK (6090) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2013
From the Winter dampler. Decent beer. Cherry in the flavor and aroma. A lottle sweet, brown sugar and malt. johnnnniee (4245) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 21, 2013
Bottle from the 12 pack from Market Basket
Pours a deep dark brown with faint garnet highlights at the edges and a smallish off white head that quickly dissipates. Aromas of cherry overwhelm my olfactory system. Tart sweet medicinal cough drop conjuring cherry aromas. Everything I hate about Sam Adams cherry wheat unfortunately made it into this beer. Light chocolate and burnt sugars deep underneath, I think. The flavor is sweet medicinal cherry with bits of Hershey’s syrup drizzled on top. Hints of dark sugary flavors are there but little else. Medium body with a sweet sticky syrupy mouthfeel and a light level of carbonation. I choked down the last of this bottle, but on the bright side my cough cleared up. Now to pawn the remaining bottle off on some unsuspecting Christmas guest. realjb29 (27) - olean, New York, USA - DEC 21, 2013
pours dark and creamy with an srm of 40+. Dark blackish brown with creamy milky head. It smells like chocolate covered cherries with subtle coffee notes. definitely reminds me of Christmas. The taste is extremely sweet and malty. decent mouth feel. tasting notes very rich and bready. strong maraschino cherry and milk chocolate notes hit the palate upon initial sip. mid swallow a medicinal slightly astringent coffee flavor comes through with a finish of yeast, bread, that linger slightly on tongue after swallow. Moderate to low carbonation. A uniquely American adaption to the classic German bock style. The sweetness is over whelming which makes this a 6oz or less sipper for me. Overall, it was pleasant with good flavor complexity.

A very unique bock. Pours a nice deep red with a light carbonated tan head. Smells and tastes just like chocolate covered cherries. Would have liked it to be a bit creamier however. Had in the bottle.

On draft at Dan's. Pours a dark rubyish brown with no head pen lace to speak of. Looks like a flat soda. The aroma is magical. There is such a wonderful complexity of chocolate, roastyness, and a dominance of cherry. The smell is comparable to a cherry cordial. Amazing. The flavor isn't as good. There is an awkward struggle between the chocolate, cherry and the sweet bock nature of the beer. The mouth feel is good, but the awkwardness in the flavor doesn't help.

Bottled from Walmart. Super deep ruby in color. Nose is strong on the cherry with a nice bit of roastiness in there as well. Full bodied up front. Good balance of cherry and roasted malts. Tastes like a cherry stout more than a bock. Pretty tasty. Nice subtle cheery chocolate aftertaste. demitriustown (1191) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - DEC 19, 2013
12 oz bottle: Aroma is caramel, chocolate, tart cherries. and a scent of a lightly grassy hop. Appearance is a dark black with a medium tan head that quickly diminishes. Taste is actually really nice the cherry and chocolate mix well together. Malt backing in the finish makes that palate enjoyable and refreshing. Overall, Pretty darn good stuff from Sam Adams. Cheers! radagast83 (8006) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - DEC 19, 2013
12oz bottle. Aroma is notes of sweet cherries in syrup, with some light chocolate notes. Flavor was like a cherry cordial, bittersweet chocolate notes, some milk chocolate character. It’s what it says it is.
