12/29/2013: Samuel Adams Cherry Chocolate Bock Special Release... Aroma and flavor are overwhelmingly cherry medice at first, but as the beer has a chance to breathe a bit, it also improves. The cherry mellows out to a dark cherry and becomes way less medicinal and the soft cocoa nibs and Tootsie Roll-like milk chocolate is more evident. I particularly like the molasses and smoky caramel characteristics in the finish. I liked the old Chocolate Bock and enjoy this beer for the most part as well, although the cherry might be a bit too much at times. Drinks a bit like a chocolate covered liqueur-filled cherry! The moderate level of alcohol is nice, but this one doesn’t necessarily go down too quickly since it seems to have a thicker body to it. The deep, chocolate brown color with a reddish tint and dense, ivory-colored head are nice too. Overall, this is a solid brew that is quite appropriate for the holiday season. 12 fl. oz. bottle (5.8% ALC/VOL; Enjoy Before MAY14) from Jungle Jim’s International Market in Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #263 for this beer. trapped (3801) - New York, TURKEY - JAN 3, 2014
Bottle. Very dark brwon with reddish tint, spongy beige large head, cherry aroma, well balanced, not too sweet cherry flavored chocolate taste, longish finish with roasted malt aftertaste. Nice one, enjoyed trying it. luttonm (6981) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 3, 2014
12oz bottle in Seattle. Dark black-brown, foam. As you’d expect, cherry and chocolate, some coffee roast malts. Big sweet cherry pit, red fruit over dark malt. Sweet cherry candy, tootsie roll. Creamy, good body. Tasty for what it is, which is an over sweet fruity novelty. Onebigtymer11 (59) - Vermont, USA - JAN 2, 2014

Loved this beer. You get a very bold cherry flavor at first taste and it slowly fades into a slightly semisweet chocolate note. Very tasty if you like cherry and chocolate. I love the fact it doesn’t shy away from the cherry, even though others thought it was too much. chucklemation (1798) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Dark brown with a small white foam head. Smells distinctly of chocolate and cherry and tastes the same. I enjoyed this quite a bit. DBob5150 (236) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Pours almost like a cola in appearance, dark brown body with a thick tan head. No surprise, the aroma is cherry, chocolate and caramel. Taste is almost like mocha, with a cherry accent. Enjoyable, but I like the original Chocolate Bock better, the cherry tends to add a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Chocolate Cherry Bock pours a medium brown clear liquid with a good head of mocha foam. Nose is a hint of cherry behind a dark chocolate roasted malt goodness. On the first sip the cherry comes to the front but is backed by a solid dark chocolate presence. It’s like a liquid chocolate covered cherry. Body is mildly lively. finish is good kiersch and dark chocolate bitters. hman43 (1898) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - DEC 30, 2013
There is a powerful cherry smell with a bit of chocolate. The cherry almost reminds me of cherry pipe tobacco, in a good way. It’s almost black with very little light coming through. The head is light brown and lasts a bit. There is a taste of chocolate with cherries mixed together. The aftertaste lingers with cherries.
