12oz bottle-dissipating lt brown-brown. A-cherry, spice, cocoa-med malt. T-roasty/cocoa-med malt, 2nd spice (hops?), slight cherry in the background. slowrunner77 (12051) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 5, 2014
"Bottled for 2013. Yay!! I’ve long been a huge fan of chocolate bock, even when it was in big overpriced bottles. This could have gone so wrong. Cherry flavor can end up medicinal, but they really nail the cherry in this, especially in the nose. Slightly tart and complex and nearly perfectly balanced. The flavor is a little sweeter. A lesson in decadence from a 5.8% beer. Like German chocolate cake spiked with tart and sweet cherries. LOVE this. Wish I could get just this instead of the mixer :) Aroma 9.5, flavor 8.5."

Pouring at the Saturday sessions of EBF. Pours a hazed brown to black with a thin beige head. Smells just like a cherry cordial from the drugstore, big cherry and chocolate, and a lot of sweetness. Medium bodied, creamy chocolate and toast. Light cherry. Nice and sweet, caramel and coffee, chewy, long smooth caramel and roast. deyholla (11609) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured a hazy dark brown with a brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of a very sweet maraschino cherries with a backing chocolate note to cut the sweetness slightly. Flavor was strong with maraschino cherries with the chocolate coming out in the finish. Maraschino cherry note overwhelmed the beer slightly. shrubber85 (11411) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 18, 2014
Bottle. Strong maraschino cherry and light chocolate aroma. Dark brown with moderate tan head. Sweet-lightly tart cherry and chocolate malt flavor. Really no bock characteristics at all but still a pleasant fruit beer.

Draft… Pours very dark with flashes of crimson when help up to light and a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. Great retention. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. Smells and tastes like the chocolate-covered maraschino cherry included in almost all boxes of assorted chocolates. Totally artificial. Not quite cloying, but working on it. Bittersweet, chocolate/cherry finish. Not bad at all, just too artificial for me. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 24, 2012
Reddish brown pour, tan head. Aroma is a chocolate covered cherry and malty notes. Flavor is sweet, cherries, a bit too sweet but not horrible. DocLock (10706) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 14, 2011
Draft at CAH. Pours chestnut brownish with nose of fresh cherries, dark malt, cacao. Tastes fairly sweet, with a big cherry flavor, solid patent malt, cacao, and backup hops. Overall stays sweet with the cherries tasting more authentic than Jolly Rancherish. cubs (10636) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 14, 2014
On tap @ Black Bottle. Pours a fairly clear reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Maraschino cherry x20, chocolate, light vanilla, tart aroma. Flavor is more subdued but still very good. Tart black cherry, caramel, cookie flavor. Very similar to Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat in terms of the cherry. Great. BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 11, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle. Deep brown dense pour with a frothy head. Chocolate and cherry cough drops in this. Moderate palate. Not bad.
