COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter. Cheers!

Bottled. Poured clear, deep reddish-brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter cherries and cocoa over darker chocolates and a little molasses.. really smelled like chocolate-covered cherries. The flavor found sweeter cocoa and cherries at the core with dry, toasted chocolates and lightly-tart cherry skins around.. finished with more chocolate-covered cherries. Medium-bodied with creamy-ish carbonation on the palate.. sweeter than I wanted, but it felt good.

Draft. Black pour no head. Cherry dominated aroma, almost medicinal in character. Some lighter chocolate, covered by artificially sweetened and medicinal cherry tones. Ugh.

Draft at global brew. Very dark and clear with some red. A nice one finger tan head. Both the aroma and flavor chocolate first and then cherries. It is uncomplicated but nice. A creamy rich feel. This is one of those beers that would make a nice gateway into craft.

Aroma is cherries, mild chocolate and slight musty notes. The flavor is cherries, chocolate undertones, malts and a dryish/sweet finish.

Bottle:   Cherry comes across as a bit of cough syrup.   Otherwise its like a cherry tootsie roll from start to finish.   Perhaps a lot like that knock-off cherry soda from those weird grocery store brands.   Otherwise a bit of carob.   This one was way too artificial.   Just didn’t work for me.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2014 Bottle. First impression: "Holy crap, this is delicious!" Deep and ruby-black, this has not a lot of head. But the aroma and flavors are bountiful. Rich with brownie-like sweet chocolate, topped with some very well finessed cherry syrup. Brilliant. (#5401, 12/30/2013)

12 oz bottle. Black appearance with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of chocolate, cherries, dark fruit and a touch of vanilla. Malty and fruity with medium body, soft carbonation, a creamy feel and a sweet finish.

Bottle: Pours nearly black, rubied, with a thick tan head. Chocolate and cherry aroma....(surprise!) Taste is creamy, milk chocolate over cherries. Cherry is just right, not overpowering. Chocolate is velvety rich. Really tasty.

12oz bottle in Seattle. Dark black-brown, foam. As you’d expect, cherry and chocolate, some coffee roast malts. Big sweet cherry pit, red fruit over dark malt. Sweet cherry candy, tootsie roll. Creamy, good body. Tasty for what it is, which is an over sweet fruity novelty.
