COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special release is brewed just for the holidays. For a new approach to a classic favorite, we added cherries to our traditional Chocolate Bock for a sweet, slightly tart note. Aged on a bed of dark cocoa nibs, the malty, chocolaty, and dark fruit flavors create a rich, complex beer perfect for winter. Cheers!

Growler shared by a friend. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma of cherry, chocolate and a bit of an estery note. Chocolate malty flavor with a sweet maraschino cherry blast before a roasty and nutty finish.

Draft. Black pour no head. Cherry dominated aroma, almost medicinal in character. Some lighter chocolate, covered by artificially sweetened and medicinal cherry tones. Ugh.

Draft at global brew. Very dark and clear with some red. A nice one finger tan head. Both the aroma and flavor chocolate first and then cherries. It is uncomplicated but nice. A creamy rich feel. This is one of those beers that would make a nice gateway into craft.

Bottle:   Cherry comes across as a bit of cough syrup.   Otherwise its like a cherry tootsie roll from start to finish.   Perhaps a lot like that knock-off cherry soda from those weird grocery store brands.   Otherwise a bit of carob.   This one was way too artificial.   Just didnt work for me.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2014 Bottle. First impression: "Holy crap, this is delicious!" Deep and ruby-black, this has not a lot of head. But the aroma and flavors are bountiful. Rich with brownie-like sweet chocolate, topped with some very well finessed cherry syrup. Brilliant. (#5401, 12/30/2013)

Bottle: Pours nearly black, rubied, with a thick tan head. Chocolate and cherry aroma....(surprise!) Taste is creamy, milk chocolate over cherries. Cherry is just right, not overpowering. Chocolate is velvety rich. Really tasty.

Ugh, I hate to say something like "typical mas market fruit beer" because it make me sound snobby, but...its pretty typical. Smells fine, tastes artificial and in this particular case, pretty medicinal, as well.

(draught at Whiskey Cake) clear deep ruby-brown, few ine tan bubbles lining the edges. Nose of artificial cherry, sweet Chocolate malt, taste of chocolate malt, artificial cherry, cream, raw grain mash. The linger leaves something to be desired, but its not terrible. Just ok.

12 oz. bottle. It pours dark brown with some orange highlights and a rather creamy tan head. Holy cow, this smells almost exactly like Dr. Pepper. Theres a little bit of chocolate as well with mild notes of toast and fermentation byproducts. The flavor is actually pretty nice. Dr. Pepper with some rich notes of bread, yeast and chocolate. Full bodied with a nice, balanced cherry character and a sweet cherry chocolate finish. It reminds me of eating one of those chocolate covered cherries and then chasing it with a Dr. Pepper. I was surprised I liked it as much as I did.
