bottle. clear amber with a small white head. nose of smoked gouda, floral hops and toffee. the smoky flavor is like a smoked cheese or even fish rather than hearty red meat on a smoldering campfire. i get a faint tart quality. the bock itself has notes of honey, nuts, and butter. palate is medium with a slight abv burn in the beginning and moderate carbonation. Bottle sample at a Samuel Adams tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Very dark reddish color with a white head. Aroma of smoked sausages, malt, caramel and a bit of alcohol. Sweet malty, caramelly and smoky flavor with alcohol. Medium to full-bodied. Not bad. nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 18, 2012
The aroma is smokey but overpowering it has alcohol and sweet malt as well. The appearance is amber with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall a smoked beer even non-smoke beer drinkers can drink. Palidor19 (3188) - Brandon, Florida, USA - MAR 18, 2012
this is a real smokey beer, with a nice clean taste at the end. has a definite sweetness that is overridden by the actual smoke of the beer. its not too hoppy. but the rest of the beer work as a great beer, for the BBQ JDBaker11058 (2206) - Maryland, USA - MAR 18, 2012
Appearance: deep clear amber, with coppery, reddish notes, a short light tan, and average lace rings. Aroma: toasted malts, light smoke, a bit of wood, with caramel and toffee coming through as it warms. Taste: caramel, brown toast, smoky notes of bacon and a little steak, with a bit of earthy, mellow hops. Finish: smooth, crisp, and quick, with a bit of lingering smoke. Notes: With all the smoke beers available these days, this one didn’t do anything to stand out. It was a decent complement to the pig roast we had today, but overall it was just an average smoke beer. I will say the high abv seemed well-hidden.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate smoke sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium complex sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met.

Copper, slight tan head with minor lacing. Nice smoke and bacon nose with a bit of a sweet undercurrent. Creamy mouthfee before carbonation takes over. Smoky/sweet taste that evolves to bittering hops and some slight alcohol wrming. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAR 17, 2012
wow, was looking forward to this- but quite the let down .. . pours a deep copper amber .. low foam, almost no lacing .. . messy sticky mouthfeel, and damned alcoholic .. . light maple smoke and boozy bacon drippings .. . no, this is so out of whack.. . i’m surprised about this one; the mouth + abv kills this one, just very messy and one dimensional- oh well .. . . Name: Cinder Bock

Source: Hop City, Atlanta
Appearance: clear dark amber, creamy beige head, scattered streaks of lace
Aroma: sweet smokey aroma, candy caramel bock sweetness, lots of woody smokyness
Flavor: sweet bock flavor, caramel sweetness with that malt candy character, big time smoke balances the sweetness, light earthyness falls out of the smoke for a smokey earthy finish
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 16/20

#499. Thanks joel. Bottle, poured a clear, amber copper color, med light head. Aroma is very interesting; getting bacon, smoke, wood, cocoa, caramel. Med light sweetness, light bitter. Lite on carbonation. Medium body. Nice smoked flavor leads to malt body and slight hop. Glad I tried it.
