Wow. Pitch black body with a thick brown head. Wonderfully inviting aroma of coffee and cream. Medium mouthfeel...very smooth. The taste matches the aroma. Smooth and sweet like a sweetened iced coffee. There’s an appropriate bite at the end. Bravo.
Bottle poured in mug. Dark color with little creamy head, aroma are roast malt, coffee, nuts, hints of chocolate, very nice. Taste is well balanced coffee flavor mostly, grains with low bitterness... very drinkable, cant even feel the booze, i liked it slowrunner77 (12037) - Reno, Nevada, USA - DEC 9, 2014
This got outvoted in the national head to head though it won at the fest I had it at by a HUGE margin. This was a very well done coffee beer before coffee beers were as prevelant as they are now. Super smooth and well put together. koleminer20 (3591) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JAN 10, 2014
On draft at Dan's. Being a skeptic of Sam Adams, it's not bad. The pour is really thin. More of a darker brown, with prominent ruby hues. The head is a slight off white and laces pretty good as it fades to a film. The aroma is all coffee. There is a light roast and then coffee. The taste is exactly like it smells. A subtle sweetness comes through about half way in, and then the roastyness takes over. The mouth feel is really really thin, and it takes away from the lasting flavors that is like to see.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep red-brown-black body. Potent coffee in nose and body, balanced by toasty notes. Dry with slight sweetness and massive cocoa notes. Astringent coffee finish. TimE (5809) - Tokyo, JAPAN - DEC 25, 2011
decent body light tons of cold coffee. Not too sweet. Still not much depth.

a good moderately smooth and creamy substantial mouthfeel. Nice flavors of coffee with a pleasant mocha taste right at the finish. good alcohol kick without intruding in the flavor. light dark fruit flavor off in the backround just wafting in for a moment. just the lightest touch of acrid seems to me to be the definition of roasted as hardly experienced before. not in any way like a Sammy i have ever had before. a winner! thechandler (593) - Charleston, West Virginia, USA - OCT 26, 2011
Pour is dark with a rich creamy head. Aroma is full and sweet with rich coffee presence. Flavor is full and bold. Certainly a good bit of coffee flavor there. Possibly a bit too much. Palate is very smooth which makes it pretty drinkable. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 22, 2011
Bottle in a wine glass. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee and light hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. A decent coffee stout. MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 10, 2009
Back log sampled for contest. This was an actual solid beer. Look like a java stout and had the aroma of roast and coffee. A good mouthfeel. It was good.
