Pours the color of gold. No orange. No hues. Lager bubbles are making their way to the top in perfect clarity. There is a fat head of creamy bubbles that fell off unnoticed because I drank it so fast. Left wet and patchy lacing. carbonation refreshed upon each tilt of the glass. This had a big bright nose. Everything you love about hops. Pine, citrus and floral. A bit of orange peel and a light bread. Tucked just under all that is a light yeasty lager scent. Spruce, pine needles. Lightly sweet malt.
Taste is exceptional. It has a tremendous hop forward character that is tempered and smooth. The hops are herbal and succulent with out a terrible bitter. They are not even really that tart and that’s how it is one step toned down from an IPA. There is a bit of grapefruit on the palate though but a light tangerine takes hold and a bit of orange blossom honey. Bread is light and the lagering has done this beer a great favor. It has made it smooth and drinkable in the best way. The pine is intense but not sharp. A touch of resin to make the aftertaste last and plenty of earth. It’s crisp and bold. There is just a bit of bitter in the dry finish.
Leave it to sam adams to mix these two beer styles so perfectly. This beer has tremendous flavor but is not the least bit harsh. it doesn’t numb you with bitterness. It doesn’t defeat you with a high abv. The mouthfeel is light to medium and the carbonation is perfect with a little bite to it. It is gentle enough and the lager character does indeed make it easy drinking.
Pours amber and keeps good head. The taste is hoppy, light early with some, but not much, bitterness at back end. Distinct IP flavour for this lager. The smoothness is a great quality. Too notch.

Sold. Well hopped with grapefruit & citrus qualities. Dry malt and dry finish on the palate. Unusual and good.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12 oz. bottle.
Golden yellow with a huge head like a soft pillow.
Scent of sweet pines with light grapefruit. Knew this had some WC hops going!
Slight bitter finish with very little bready malt. Find this hard to believe they were using Munich malt-so not like a lager at all.
Overall greatly surprised with this brew. Enjoyed immensely on a hot afternoon. Gription79 (2891) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - SEP 19, 2013
Poured from a 12 bottle. Lots of pine, herbal hop qualities, some citrusy, grainy, husky malts. I have a hard time with the lagering and hops. firstsip (733) - Michigan, USA - SEP 16, 2013
Surprised at the lack of hop presence, but I might be used to insane hops with many American DIPAs. Excellent mouthfeel--full. Yellow color, great lacing. floydisbest (8) - - SEP 15, 2013 does not count
Amazing mixture of floral, citrus, and just plain hoppy taste. Quite clear and golden, minimal froth on the head. Light to medium bitterness. Not too sweet or sour. Body is light, average to soft carbonation, and the finish is just the right bitter, and lasts tempts the buds for another sip. Leafs93 (2305) - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 14, 2013
Pours copper orange with an off white head. Aroma is citrus, floral and grass. Taste is mild bitters with a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied, good carbonation and some stickiness on the finish. Very solid.
