Bottle purchased at Vicker’s Liquors. Clear amber pour with a huge off-white head. Aroma of malt, lager yeast, caramel and grassy hops. Malty flavor with some caramel before a grassy hop finish. jackl (8423) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 15, 2013
Bottle at base camp, DC. Deep gold pour with a small white head. The nose is sherbet hops. Lemon cake. A bit of tasted bread. The taste is lemon zest. Moderate citric hop profile. Summery and bright. Toasted grain body. Slightly bitter finish. Light and quite refreshing. Tastes pretty fresh. Active carbonation. Overall, nice stuff. Drinks very much like a clean, approachable APA. 12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear golden orange color with a finger of foamy yellow tinted head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit, and caramel malt. Tastes of citrus & tropical fruit, pale malt, grapefruit, lemon rind, and pine. One of the best Sam Adams beers I've had!

Bottle - Pours amber with a foamy white head. Nose is big garlic/onion hops, with some citrus and a clean pale malt base. Same taste, though the malt is grainier and a bit rustic. The hop blend on this is just fantastic, making it one of the few imperial pils that I’ve liked--maybe the only one. Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 9, 2013
In short: An inoffensive golden beer with a restrained hopping. A bit blandBerard (639) - Salem, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 8, 2013
How: A few 12oz bottles shared by friends at a tasting, probably fresh.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a long-lasting small white head.
In long: Nose is rather discreet by modern hoppy-beers standards, a bit citrusy, a bit grassy, overall muted aroma. Taste has oily cereals, honey notes, citrus fruits, piney-tree, wet grass. Timid bitterness. Overall juicy-oily sensation. Nothing wrong with the array of flavors the beer proposes, however the beer totally lacked punch, felt tired, inexpressive. I usually find hoppy lagers are a good vehicle to really to bring out the hops with a bright definition, certainly not the case here. Inoffensive beer. This Double Agent wasn’t impressive at all, if all Double Agents were as lame we’d still be trying to figure out if Russia is communist country threatening America’s way of life or just a code name for Vodka.
Draft. Pours golden yellow with white head that lingers. Medium hop flavor in a lager. Drinkable with only 5% abv.

This is a really nice beer. I purchased it in a spring variety pack and it turned out to be my favorite. It is a beer with a light base and an IPA type bite and finish. It has fruity characteristics while remaining dry. The nose is flowery. This is a unique, creative, great beer. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 5, 2013
Sampled on 7/5/2013. This Imperial Pilsner pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is citrusy, hoppy and bready. A medium bodied Imperial Pilsner. The malts are bready, fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy, floral and slightly piney. Decent carbonation. Nice balance. Crisp and clean. Nice malts at the start with some nice lingering at the finish. Slightly spicy, with some of the grape skin Nelson Sauvin character. An interesting beer. Very drinkable, its hoppy like an IPA, but has that malty sweeter character of a lager. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is somewhat bitter.
