Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Bottle. I dont like many beers by this brewery, but this one is not too shabby. Pours a clear gold with a frothy head. Aroma is citrusy. Flavor is herbal and floral with some citrus notes. You can still taste the "lager". Somewhat full bodied. Its ok.

Bottle. Hazy light amber body. Frothy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of leafy hops, toasted grain, grass, lemon peel, spice. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of pine, resin. Aftertaste of raw grain and fresh, leafy hops. Thought it could be cleaner, crisper.

Slightly tropical citrus and pine hop aroma. Flavor is remarkably rich and hoppy. Tangy tropical hops. Well rounded flavor from start to finish. Must be the lagering. My only complaint is that it is a bit cloying and full bodied for a 5% offering. Tasty but not all that refreshing.

12oz bottle over at kristins house. Clear copper pour. Aroma is pine and grapefruit. Tastes are grass and funky malt. Little resiny. The lager is more in the background. Pretty ok.

Nicely integrated hop profile with a good amount of depth. Dry finish, highly sessionable. Probably my favorite beer Ive tried from boston beer co.

330 ml bottle in New York. Pours a light amber with a white head. Aroma is fruity/grapefruit, & pine/caramel. Taste of light pine, spruce, light floral, and light carame. Palate mostly comes through like an ipa slightly above the average especially in the nose. Pleasantly surprised with this one!

355 ml bottle. Pours a clear pale golden with a nice white head. Aroma is lemon, citrus. Flavor is fruity, fresh cereals, cake, honey. Finish is sweet, citrusy, floral. Lingering lemon and other citrus. Light to medium body, weak carbonation. Great summer beer.

What a pleasant surprise. I am not a big fan of this brewerys products, but I thought this was exceptionally good. A real punch of grapefruit on the palate with a very nice mouthfeel, and it goes down dreadfully easy. Nice head with plenty of lacing. Finish is pine, grapefruit and floral. What a great summer drink...hops without the heaviness that good IPAs can leave you with, which can be a little much on a hot day. Hope I can find this on draft somewhere. Well done, Sam!

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Hazy, medium bright amber with a 2-finger khaki head and excellent lacing. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit, grapefruit, malt and caramel. Taste of citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, herbal hops, caramel, pine, lager malt and light fruit. Medium body and medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
