COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Bottle @ home. Pours clear dark orange with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy, floral, and herbal hops with grainy malt. Flavor is moderate fresh hops and bitterness with supporting malt and a clean lager character and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear copper body with a frothy white head that fell to a thin film. The nose is nicely hoppy with just a little Simcoe and floral hoppiness. Some light caramel and toasty maltiness. The flavor is lightly bitter with a fairly nice dry toasty malt base. Some light lingering bitterness, but the finish is fairly short. Lighter bodied and easy drinking with light fizzy carbonation. About par for the course with SA beers.

Instead of asking what if, maybe someone should say "Who cares?" not a good beer for any style. It’s boring.

12 oz bottle pours a clear bronze/amber color with bubbles rising in the center toward a tw0-finger off-white head that lasts. Aroma is just as good as the appearance and as expected from an IPA: piney, grapefruit, lemon and some caramel. Body is light to medium with very lively carbonation. Taste is bitter with some sweetness in the middle. Seems like more than 5% ABV to me. Despite the hype on the bottle, this one exceeded my expectations: drinks like a lager but with the flavor of an IPA.

Bottle. Sounds nice, but doesn’t really live up to the hype on the bottle. Sorry Sammy. I’m always willing to give these guys a try, but maybe it is best that BBC just stick to the market they have carved for themselves.

A real nice bronzed body, nearly crystal clear with nice rising pinhead carbonation in the middle, lemon hues at the bottom. Head is frothy white and three fingers with very good retention settling to a nice island and some swiss cheese like bubbles. Really nice looking beer here. Nose is soft citrus lime and wonderful chewy zesty hop front. Hints of spritzy character, and a wonderful aromatic citrus of lemon lime and hinting tropical notes. Not much else though, but very enjoyable. Palate hints with a noticeable thick sweetness of malts, but the lime hop bitterness comes in to balance it out. Still borderline syrupy and hinting towards fussel boozy character, but the beer feels bigger than it's five percent abv hints at. Sharp aftertaste on the finish with a hint of crispness as well, with the hop angle rolling along nicely on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Classic American-looking beer, crystal clear and amber, with just a wisp of a white head. This is an interesting conundrum of a beer ... definitely lagery ... but there’s a swirl of down-right West coast hoppiness in there, too. I could drink lots of this ... (#5037, 5/26/2013)

(bottle) clear golden orange colour with a tall yellowish head; aromas of grapefruit, pine; balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish; certainly beats an average lager

crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - MAY 23, 2013
A golden body with a white head that had good retention and great lacing, Aroma had a nice bread cereal malts. Hops were mainly citrus but there was a nice floral presence there too. Flavor had good balance between crisp malts, almost reminding me of a dortmunder. Hops were mainly citrus hops almost like a blend of sweet grapefruit and lemon. There was some mild floral and pine notes to it. Finish was smooth and lightly dry.

jbruner (4858) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAY 22, 2013
Pours a clear golden yellow on tsp with bubbly white head and light lacing. Aroma is light grass and floral notes, light malt. Taste is more malty than hoppy. Mediocre pale ale with a crisp finish.
