12 oz. bottle from a six pack I picked up while in Boston. Pours a clear golden amber with a moderate white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of citrusy hops with notes of pine. If I closed my eyes I’d be thinking IPA. The flavor is malt followed by some citrusy hops, mostly grapefruit. Moderate bitterness at the finish although some lagering smoothness does come through. Medium bodied. Solid. j12601 (11573) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear golden tinged amber with a large white head. Smells lovely and hoppy right away, but picks up a sweet grainy note up close, and that’s not all that bad. Medium bodied, a little bit of tartness. Grainy with a touch of sweet malt. Nice hop notes and a bit of bitterness on the finish. Pretty easy drinking and would have been quite good about six hours ago when I came in from doing three hours of yard work. obxdude10 (2324) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 4, 2013
Excellent combination of the lager style with an APA. The beer pours a light copper color with an ample white head. The head gives way to some really nice cascading and sticky lacing around the inside of the glass. The aroma is really well-balanced with a good amount of sweet, bready malt and a bright and crisp tones of hops. I get quite a bit of grapefruit, orange and pine in the nose. Those three qualities also show through in the flavors, which is also really well-balanced. There is a ton of hops in the body, showing off dry but fruity flavors. I taste a lot of dry and sicy grapefruit, orange and pine from the hops, in addition to the bready and caramel tones from the malt. The beer finishes crisp, dry and slightly spicy. This is an outstanding lager, even with an identity crisis. bluemooner (657) - East Bethel, Minnesota, USA - MAY 1, 2013
Pours a clear copper with a medium white head. Aroma is floral hops and citrus. Flavor is citrus and tropical fruits with floral, grassy hops. Medium body with heavy carbonation. Pretty good. piscator34 (2529) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 1, 2013
Bottled sample. Clear copper in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Smells of tropical fruit, lemon, grapefruit, dank hops and light pale malt. Flavours are super clean grapefruit, cedar, and kitchen herbs. Fairly light bodied with a sharp clean bitterness. Far better than expected. Moreish.

Bottle. Mostly white head, clear golden orange. Nice citrus hoppiness, some melon, and dry crackery malt in the aroma. Flavor is dry, grassy, grapefruit, and leans a bit like some imperial pils I’ve had. Dry, snappy carbonation. Not bad at all. Caytinator (1005) - Waco, Texas, USA - APR 27, 2013
12oz bottle. I agree with the description mostly, I found it pretty delightful from start to finish. This is the kind of brewing innovation I like - taking an underrated style and redefining it. Bitter but not unpleasant, very very fresh aroma and taste. Well done! Metalchopz (3384) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2013
Nice, an India Pale Lager. Part of their Spring Thaw mixed pack. Rich golden colour with a frothy off-white head that stays very long, and creates thick foamy lacing. Beautiful full IPA Cascades hoppy nose with the typical grapefruit notes. The difference is in the taste. Pretty much the same, but much milder. Still, the grapefruits and pines are present. I really enjoyed this switch on the style, from ale to lager. UncleKorm (1319) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - APR 25, 2013
Bottle poured clear golden hue w/ a white frothy lingering head and some sticky lacing. Decent hop aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Bold citrus and pine hop taste and light on the lager. Light bodied and soft carbonation. rajendra82 (1092) - Alpharetta, Georgia, USA - APR 24, 2013
The veer looked very nice in the Pilsner glass I chose, with a golden colored clear body, a two finger thick head, and lots of fine carbonation. The smell was typical of a West Coast IPA, with lots of grapefruit, orange peel, and some pine, as well as some spicy smells. The taste was juicy, citric, very clean, and had some bubblegum notes in mid sip, with clean finish. I drank the beer warm from the grocery store yesterday, and it taste a bit lifeless. With time to chill today, the beer was much more lively. The mouthfeel was very soft, aided by the pillowy head, and about a billion finely textured carbonation bubbles. This is one the best beers to ever come out of the Sam Adams brewery collections.
