COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

2/7/13 notes: bottle, part of sampler. Pours brilliantly clear and gold-orange with a pearl white head. Tangerine, lime, green peppercorn and underripe grapefruit pith on nose, very nice. Flavor is tropical hop oils that recede quickly into a biscuity and light malt middle. Finish is short, hardly bitter with a bit of champagne mustiness. Mouthfeel is dry, crisp. Gosh, I can imagine a bunch of these going down on a hot day. Pretty straightforward tropical stuff here with an earthy lager yeast, but it works just fine for what it is.

A crystal clear medium-honey colored lager. Thick off-white head that falls to a good lace. Clean hoppy spice aromas. Flavor is well balanced and hoppy and the mouthfeel. Some grapefruit, some spruce. Classic lager breadiness on the backside. Very drinkable. Might just be my new ’go to’ beer.

3fourths (9341) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 6, 2013
UPDATED: APR 9, 2013 bottle. clear gold with soda water bubbles and a small white head. mellow and somewhat stale hop aroma on top of bare pale malt sweetness. lightly chalky and husky, lightly coarse carbonation, medium hop bitterness. simple, lean, a little "snappy" but lacks any trace of life or vibrancy. very dull and plain.

Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of grapefruity hops. Flavor is citrusy hops, sweet bready and caramel malts. Nice hoppy lager.

Bottle->SA. Copper with frothy white head. Aroma: pine, citrus, hops. Taste: bitter hops and citrus peel. Better than expected, but just call it an IPA and be done with the marketing cleverness.

Surprising hop nose. Citrus hop with balance front he malt. Not a very long finish, but solid beer, very reminiscent of ipa

Hoppy grapefruit and hay aromas. Transparent golden with a fizzy white cap. Bitter with nice hop characteristics. Medium bodied with a bitter but smooth finish.

This beer is a very nice hybrid-of-styles, which retains many of the better characteristics of both its parents. Very refreshing, crisp and sweet, this is not just some kind of "watered down" IPA.... want to try one on a hot summer day.

From bottle. Pours lite amber with smallish head. Aroma was all floral hop and toasted hops. Taste follows with a nice bittering. Much better then I was expecting.
