I have always been skeptical of Sam Adams. There’s no way that a mainstream beer company could be as good as a bells or an arcadia. Then I tried this beer. This is a solid IPAish beer. I’m not usually a fan of lagers of any variety but this is definitely one of my favorites. Solid looking white head that dissapears relatively quickly. This beer pours a thin looking amber color that’s completely clear. Nose is wonderful, grapefruit and hops mostly, this is probably my favorite nose I’ve ever had in an ip(l)a. Taste is weakly hopped and very lagery but good. There’s enough flavor to back up the lagery weakness. Its a very full tasting beer. The flavor is very refreshing, this is definately a beer I could get with dinner somewhere. Overall, I am impressed. I am very excited to try more Samual Adams beers after this.
Dark golden pour with thick white foam. The lager malt is present in the nose and the taste, but I found the hops to overbalance. The idea is good and it gives the lager more depth that it might ordinarily have, but it’s an IPA in the end. JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - APR 3, 2017
Dark golden to amber color with a moderate taupe colored head and decent lace. Aromas of sweet malt, orange zest, some tomato paste, and bread. Fairly crisp. Pale malt, light caramel, mild pepper, orange zest, grapefruit and resin. Good, but a few sharp edges. 2/13

Clear medium Amber color, tan head. Aromatic hops, Left Coast hopping with some fruit cocktail notes. Nice hoppy flavor too, resinous pine tar, bread dough, hints of orange blossom honey, good bitter follow. Quite quaffable! hoptimusPrimed (155) - SPAIN - MAR 21, 2016
Pours a nice golden colour with a little head. Nothing special but is drinkable. Carbonation ok

April 22nd, 2014 - From the Hopology Collection comes the Samuel Adams Double Agent IPL, a smooth and mostly clear beer with a velvety creamy head, like a very well lathered shaving soap. The aroma is clean and crisp like a lager, but with a touch more sweetness than I’d normally expect, like grapefruit, with a touch of corn and lime juice, too. The flavor is much, much sweeter, with an intense carbonation, and a flash of hops and lime in the aftertaste. It is indeed a hoppy tasting lager, with a slight tropical lime-beer edge which I find a little off putting. But this would definitely serve as a porch chair drinker, with a smoothness to settle on hot summer days, but enough hops to engage. Aggiebob (1134) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - FEB 11, 2016
Bottle. Copper in color with a thin white head and lacing. A hoppy citrus aroma with grapefruit and resinous pine flavorings. It was moderately bitter as well. Quick3Beers (1234) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 22, 2016

This is another solid beer by Samuel Adams. Got it in a sampler but I would look for it again.
