COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing innovation is about asking "what if?". What if we gave an IPA a new identity and used some of our favorite West Coast hops, with their grapefruit, piney, & tropical fruit character, in a lager? The result is this boldly hoppy & and flavorful brew with the crisp smoothness of a lager. Cheers!

MALT VARIETIES Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend and Munich malt
HOP VARIETIES Zeus, Simcoe, Citra, Ahtanum, Cascade, Centennial, and Nelson Sauvin hops

Clear pale bronze in color with a short-med head. Good retention. Aroma of spicy hops and clean malt. Medium bitter flavor. Light body, oily texture and a long, crisp, bitter finish. More of a pils than a lager. The hops do come off like an ipa. Solid.

Pours a clear gold with lasting head and nice spotty lacing. Aroma is piney, citrusy, spicy hops with some caramel and bready malts. Flavor is sweet on the tongue, immediately into a moderate amount of bitter pine resin and some grapefruit. A few seconds later, the hops make room for some caramel malt, but the hops make sure to stick around. Later, classic Sam Adams bready aftertaste and faint lingering hop resin. All of this with the clean finish of a lager. This is super drinkable. Its like a hoppy version of their original lager, but without enough balance to go down very easy. Very impressive!

12oz bottle into a pint glass . Pours a crystal clear medium copper with a one finger white head. The head hangs around in some form nearly throughout with really nice lacing. Aroma is quite a shock as it is much more than I was expecting. Tons of tropical fruit character with orange, tangerine, mango, and some pineapple. There is a little bread trying to poke through but it is nearly all hops. The flavor has the same punch of tropical hops up front and it is really pretty strong and juicy. Adds a real nice layer to what would otherwise be a pretty typical lager. Beneath the hops there are notes of bread and caramel that is very reminiscent of other Sam Adams lagers. One can definitely tell that this is a Sam Adams beer. Bitterness is on the mild side with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and a little bit of a sticky finish. Overall, one of the better beers I have had from Sam Adams. I really love the hops and the crispness the lager yeast gives. This beer is highly drinkable and provides an added bonus of great flavor. Definitely one to pick up.

12 oz bottle from the Spring Thaw sampler case. Very pleasing with a freshness all about. No bite from hop excess or associated bitterness. A vague creaminess throughout.

Sam Koch is a kook. Like his beers or not his passion and spirit make for some fun (and good) beers. This ipa, pardon me, ipL is good. Pours a nice golden color with amber hues and a big thick fluffy just off-white foamy head. The aroma and flavor are a little grassier than your average ipa or apa. Flavor is of a grassy, flat ipa, but not in a bad way (just dont know how to describe it with more positive words).

pours amber gold with finger of yellow off white froth. Aroma of grapefruit, hay, apricot. Medium bodied, with a smooth, corn lager like finish. Classic samual adams malts prominent. Flavor is modestly bitter, grapefruit rind, balanced with soft caramel and hay. Pretty good, nice drinkable lager with character.

Didnt know this would be a premium lager. Tastes more like a pale ale. Nice hops with some malty character. Good beer. Go ravens.

Aroma is very hoppy. Lots of citrus. Flavor is very clean being a lager. Im enjoying the hoppy lagers! Flavor is bitter and reflects the citrusy hopping. The palate is clean and finishes dry. Very good beer from the spring thaw pack.

This was fantastic. Hazy golden beer with a white head. Strong aromas of hops and tropical fruit. Tastes of floral/pine hops, some honey, sweet malts, and grapefruit/assorted citrus zest. Finish is bittersweet and hoppy. Outstanding malt balance to the hops. Fruity, hoppy, and refreshing. One of the best beers Ive had from Sam Adams.
