Pours a light brown with reddish hue. Appears to be clear. Minimal head that ends in single layer of bubbles. Spotty lace.
Strong, sweet caramel aromas. No hop.

@ Jungle Jims / Eastgate Clear ruby brown with a long-lasting 1" head, swirls of lace. Taste is oily very sweet malt that adds dark fruit, alcohol, and more sweet in the finish. Sweet, bready, toffee aroma.
Taste is thick, heavy dark bread....dark fruit.

9/12/2012. From bottle. Pours copper color with a tan head. Caramel, malt and toffee aromas. Sweet fruit, caramel, buttery with warm alcohol.

On tap somewhere in the French Quarter (hard to keep track of all these spots). In my plastic cup it looks dark brown with a golden meniscus. Sweet caramel bready aroma with fruity undertones. January 28th, 2012 - Boston Beer Companys’ Double Bock is a belgian dubbel disguised as a doppel bock. The aroma reminds me much more of the latter style, heavy with grape and cola notes on the nose, and a cloying sweetness that I’d expect from a semi-mass marketed dark beer (and especially one bundled in with other winter warmers.) And while the flavor shares this same clumsy malt-based sugariness, it also shares acute yeast notes, umami and a flavor that makes me think they brewed this beer with a couple rinds of parmesan cheese floating in the wort. Whatever the manufacturing process, the flavor is a bit of a surprise, and while it’s not match for a right and proper dubbel, it does make this one of the more desirable beers out of the Winter seasonal box. Poured from a bottle it looks like a cream sherry with a disappearing head. The aroma is of malt and the taste is on the sweet side paired with a slight bitterness
