9th June 2008. Nice smooth beer. Lots of smooth malt. Not much else going on but that’s okay. omhper (25953) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 5, 2007
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2007 Bottled. Clear ruby, rich head. Aroma of bready malt, molasses and metal. Sweet and very malty with full body and notes of red berries. Some strawberry esters and alcohols comes through. It balances the edge of becoming to sweet. Hops are very subdued. Low bitterness. Fairly true to style and with a lot of flavour. The top examples of the style are however more complex and with softer mouthfeel. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 29, 2006
(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, dark amber with an off-white head. Fat aroma of roasted malts and alcohol. Full throttle potent and alcoholic body with lots of sweetish, roasted malt. Vinous, almost port-like accents and some sweet, dried fruit. Very subdued bitterness. A great Doppelbock by all standards. Come again Germany. 250606 Oakes (19416) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 2, 2000
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2009 2007 vintage, aged 2 years. A little hazy, muddy and with a thin head. Not entirely attractive but not horrid-looking either. Oxidized and chewy smelling, with an accent of panela. Sweet flavour has some oxidation and some dark sugars. The finish is a bit thin, more guarapo-like. It’s holding up all right but still not a top shelf DB. rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAR 29, 2007
Great amber color, with a nice brownish head. Malty, nutty aroma, a bit vinous, some burnt sugar and toffee. Malty flavor with toffee and coffee notes. Very pleasant and with a smotty finish.
