Aroma of malt, spices, roasted malt, caramel. Poured a dark red, with a huge creamy tan head that quickly receded into a thick foamy cap. Left lots of lacing. Flavor was of malt, roasted malt, spices, caramel, touch of smoke. Medium of body, slightly heavier than medium in texture, average carbonation, with a mildly bitter spicy finish. Overall a very nice brew by Samuel Adams. Not my style of brew, but it is a very solid brew that many ppl I know would love. I would have again. Liked the maltiness of this brew quite a bit. Give it a try, its a fine brew!
Bottle from Hickey’s in Milford. Poured into a snifter. A deep purplish-brown color. Frothy tan head settles to a thin lace. Caramel sweet earthy-spice aromas and flavors. Dry bitterness. Quite flavorful. I can’t believe I’ve never tried this legendary brew from Sam Adams. I think this was one of their first offerings after Boston Lager. Groundbreaking history. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 9, 2016
Draft to snifter that poured dark mahogany off white small head. Aroma is sweet malt with red pitted fruit. Flavor is decent but a little sticky and syrupy. Red plums is what I am getting with hot alcohol on the back end. Overall kind of light in the body, drinkable But overly sweet BlackHaddock (7235) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2016
12oz bottle on 13th May 2016 in California while on holiday. Clear deep amber with a red hue, poured into a Corsendonk badged tulip. Semi-sweet malty affair with caramel to the fore, liked it. BeerdedDave (1685) - Beckley, USA - APR 13, 2016
reddish brown color; sweet, caramel malty aroma with alcohol notes; sweet caramel malt flavor with notes of dark bread, mollasses, toffee, and alcohol; a bit too sweet in my opinion; a bit syrupy MetalNHopHead (1901) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - MAR 1, 2016
Double Bock certainly is a malt bomb. Caramel, chocolate, and traces of syrupy dark fruit. Full-bodied and rich. A hell of a lot of alcohol heat.

Cloudy brown copper with a thick creamy tan head. Toasted malt, caramel and toffee aroma. Medium oily, slick body. Very low carbonation. Semi sweet flavor with malt bitterness. Alcohol forward flavor. Persistent nutty bitter aftertaste with lasting warmth of alcohol. tysongillmore (362) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2015
A little hazy and kinda sweet. It's a Double Bock, good shit. ---Rated via BeerBuddy for iPhone.

Bottle I have had for about a year. Plenty of caramel and toffee. Light brown with a nice head. Obviously for slow drinking,. gsmitty80 (2130) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 12, 2015
Nice dark doppel that had a lot of sweetness in the aroma and taste. Good alcohol % follows though to make it an enjoyable beer. mstrcrwly (1000) - New York, USA - APR 18, 2015
