A: Poured with an average-sized, off-white head... it actually stuck around for most of the drinking, at about a 1/2-finger size. Body is dark-orange (burnt orange?) and cloudy. Lighter color than what I would have expected for the style.
S: Aroma is of wheat and average malt... kind of has a "something’s baking" smell to it, with some bananas and brown sugar in there.
T: Very nice flavor; although short-lasting, it’s quite sweet from the malt addition, with a very nice wheat flavor as well. Quite enjoyable, actually.
M: Nice on the palate as well, it’s medium-bodied and has a creamy texture. Average carbonation.
D: I was quite impressed with this dunkel; drinking it made me wish that it was available outside of the Harvest Pack (not that the pack is a bad deal, but it’d be nice to be able to buy this on its own in a sixer). I’d definitely have it again. nhamilton (104) - Cibolo, Texas, USA - SEP 15, 2009
Pours to a large tan head and has an amber appearence. The flavor is strong, but not over powering. It goes down smooth enough and doesn’t leave an aftertaste. basewars (169) - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 14, 2009
Pours deep reddish brown with plenty of off white head. Aroma is of malt, banana, orange, and chocolate. Flavor is the same with some mango flavor. Finishes kinda sweet. Full bodied. The problem here is that it’s not bottle conditioned which prevents this beer from really taking off. Good example, nevertheless. malrubius (2902) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - SEP 14, 2009
12 ounce bottle in weizen glass. Cloudy amber with thick head and lace. Banana caramel and wheat tang clove aroma. Banana pineapple caramel sweet fruitiness. Mild wheat tang finish. Pretty good example of the style. Refreshing. GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - SEP 14, 2009
Part of the seasonal harvest 12 pack. Not bad really. Most of these beers that come in these packs are either pretty average or really above average. The beer pours out a dark cloudy brown with a creamy 1" light tan head. Aroma is a dirty metallic, clove, wheat malts, and just a touch of toasted malts. Flavor has a wet dirt character to it, mild raisins, toasted malts, and cloves. Body is medium, above average carbonation massaging the palate, and lightly coating.

I rated this against other Sam Adams beers I have had. I would have to say this is my favorite Sam Adams brew. I wish I could find it in 6 or 12 packs. Has a nice cloudy, deep-orange look with a nice foamy head. Aroma is of banana/clove. I just totally enjoyed this beer and highly recommend this brew, especially if you like Hefes.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2011 Updated score with draft version 10-14-2011. Bottle thanks to lithy at his Septemberfest. Cloudy, orange-brown with a nice lasting head. Nose of banana, clove, toasted nut, bready yeast. Flavor is pretty much the same. Medium body is smooth and dry.

Bottle from variety pack. Malty with strong banana and cloves. Starts sweet but ends with a nice earthy finish. SSSteve (4006) - - SEP 12, 2009
12oz bottle. cloudy tan color under a small white head. wheaty, banana, melon aroma. flavors of banana, clove, a mild astringency. medium body. nothing special. thegreenrooster (4406) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 12, 2009
Pour is a cloudy brown with a large tan head. Aroma is a decent helping of wheat and cloves. Flavor is a very light banana and clove and finishes very watery. This is a very thin example of the style.
