Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 23, 2009
2007 "Sample B" bottle shared by Daknole. Pours cloudy brown with scant tan head. Rich malty aroma with lots of raisins, dates, other dark dried fruit, molasses, and the crust of rum cake. Medium carbonation, good palate. Fruit cakey malts balanced by a nice dryness. Like an old actress can still perceive its heyday shine, which impresses. Clean finish is a little thin but the beer has stood the test of time exceptionally well. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 12, 2009
sample bottle from aplusbreaks. Brown pour with a medium tan head. A very malty nose with hints of caramel and some yeast. The nose has held up well considering the age of the bottle. The flavor is really pretty good. I would imagine this was very good when fresh. Very malty and some fruit notes with some faint spices. Nice. rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 14, 2008
Classique !! Bue aussi sous l’appellation Dark Wheat. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 13, 2008
Sample bottle. Pours brown with a tannish head. Smells of bananas, cloves, some bubblegum, some caramel, touches of chocolate. Taste repeats the nose and is also accompanied by an earthy finish with some spiciness at the end. Not bad. EKGoldings (666) - Radford, Virginia, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Compared to the Irish Ale which was the other in the pub comparison, this was quite good. I thought it had decent wheat character with nice yeasty notes, some banana and spice and a hint of dark malts. I’d buy this one, the Irish red no way..

Tasted 10/24/07. 12oz bottle. SAMPLE B. Dark brown with a ruby tint. Lacing off-white head. Yeasty floral peppery nose. Notes of toffee and bananas. Light to medium bodied with a smokey roasted flavor. Wheaty yet off-putting. Odd sulphorous note. Smokey bready flavor. Tingling and mildly dry. Didn’t care for this one too much. "Sample B" provided by a rep for Sam Adams. Dark brown beer with a thick tan head. Lots of lacing. Banana bread aroma and flavor with some roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Lively carbonation. Nice Strykzone (7586) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - OCT 13, 2007
Perhaps the darkest weizen I have seen. Aroma is big and malty with some spice. Aroma is better than the flavor which was not substantial. Body was thin as well. stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 24, 2007
Sampled @ the brewery with the Mad_Indian. Part of a contest to see what beer is going to be bottled in January, the contest was the Dunkle versus the Irish red, both were pretty good, however the dunkle was better. Poured brownish with a small head. Aroma of banana spices, and caramel. the flavor is sweet, spices, banana, and caramel. I voted for this brew however i thought the two beers we had at the end of the tour, the weissbier and the Weizen were much better, figures. Sampled with Stegosaurus during our second Boston Tour. Served at Sam Adams. Brown pour with mild head. Good caramel and roast aroma. Finished smooth. I voted for this over the Red.
