COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dunkelweizen translates into "dark wheat" and the beer is a darker version of the Bavarian wheat beers of the 15th century. Dark amber brown in color, this unfiltered ale is brewed with traditional Bavarian yeast, which imparts a wide spectrum of flavors and aromas from spicy clove and nutmeg to tropical fruit and banana. The result is a beer that is complex and flavorful, medium-bodied with a crisp finish.

Deep copper color. Aroma is over-ripe bananas and oatmeal. Taste is shockingly bad; this is second tasting, could not even finish either time. Perhaps this style eludes me, but I am shocked at the poor taste of this offering from SA.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy orange brown with a light brown head. A big nose of concord grape, honey, alcohol, dried fruit, and yeast. The taste has surprising sour undertones, slightly watery, yeast, banana, and some faint citrus, alcohol, tart summer apples, and kind of a sweet & sour sauce thing too. The Samuel Adams Autumn Sampler was a damn good buy. Pick one up if it’s still out.

Bottle: pours a beautiful hazy copper color, with a nice tan head. Aromas are sour yeasty bananas. The flavor is that wonderful banana clove that I love. It's a good beer, not the best dunkelwiezen that I have ever had, but its good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark amber with a good frothy couple of inches of foam - I was expecting a bit more dunkel to be honest. The aroma department was dominated by banana, with hints of spice, not clove, just spice in general, and some toastiness. Tastewise the toasted malts really come through, with a bit of sweet caramel and a nice long reasonably dry finish. Medium bodied, quite drinkable and a decent enough brew.

Pours amber with a finger of off-white head. Aroma is light and fruity with some banana notes. Tastes almost like a fried banana but not nearly as strong a flavor. Pretty good beer

Hazy nut brown pour with thin head. Aroma is mostly wheat. Taste starts with yeast and wheat fruitiness but finishes with more balanced malt character. ---Rated via iPhone

Bottle from variety pack while pre gaming outside patriots game. Pours brown with semi earthy sweet nose. Tastes of malt, nutty, earth, banana, wheat, and nutmeg. Light bodied easy drinking but nice for crisp fall day like now

(9/14) Pours hazy brown/light brown. very malty in taste which I think overpowered the opportunity to taste other spices., finish was sweet/bitter all in one
