3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
It pours a deep dark brown and leaves the same color body with some amber notes along the edges of the glass. A large one inch foamy white head appears and lasts for a good two minutes. The smell has some wheat and banana up front with a bit of honey in the background.
The taste is basically the same with some added spice. The palate is about a medium body with a slight harshness of carbonation. Overall, this is a good beer I’d come back to.
From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Samuel Adams Dark Wheat". Translucent reddish brown color. Tan head. Fragrant coffeeish aroma. Spicy chocolate malt flavor. Bittersweet hop finish. Uncharacteristic of the style, yet tasty. decaturstevo (6257) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - AUG 30, 2016
Hazed amber pour with light tan head. Aroma is dried fruit, molasses, and nutmeg. Flavor is sweet brown sugar start with a lite dry finish. Jus a tad fizzy but a pretty nice beer BelgianBeerGal (4087) - Panama City, Florida, USA - JAN 2, 2016
Bottle from a multi-pack. Clear chestnut color with a bubbly tan head that lasts quite awhile. Big banana in the aroma with some sweet caramel. Flavor is slightly sweet plantains with cloves but a little muddled overall. Meh. ttoadee (1513) - Austin, Texas, USA - NOV 26, 2015
Light brown pour, 2 fingers off white. Nose is esters & yeast. Sweet. Middle is bubblegum and dark wheat, roasted grain. Finish is bittersweet, yeasty. Little flat. IslandHaole (1275) - Misawa, JAPAN - OCT 11, 2015
Caramel, Toffee, biscuits, light floral & spice. Clear orange with a foamy tan head. Certainly has the right yeast as the banana/clove flavor of typical Weizens/Wits is the dominant flavor. Mouthfeel is appropriate for the style. Not a bad effort by SA.

This pours a medium brown color with a slight head. The aroma is slightly malty. The taste has some sour elements to it mixed with clove, spices, and fruits. The taste is rather interesting from a style you don’t see too many people attempt. A well made dark wheat beer! HoppyScallywag (339) - Butler, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 6, 2015
Banana and clove pop out on this right away. Almost like tasting a piece of banana bread through your nose and throat without actually chewing it. If it's a little too quickly off the palate but it's pretty good.

"the clove spiciness and the banana fruitiness are done pretty well, though there’s not quite as much difference from a tradition hefe (besides the color) to get very excited. ok brew, though, and a style I like." Darkmagus82 (2302) - - AUG 7, 2014

Poured from bottle into Sam Adam’s perfect pint glass
Appearance – Pours a copper-amber color with a huge off white billowy head. The head has a decent retention, but eventually fades to leave a nice level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is malty and a good deal of roasty and biscuit aromas mixed within. There is a light sweetness of light fruit with notes of apple, banana and pear as well as hints of some darker fruits mixed within.
Taste – The taste begins on the lighter side in terms of sweetness with a good base of a bready and biscuit nature. A nice roasted flavor soon comes to the tongue. With it, a lighter fruit flavor of banana and pear come to the taste. The sweeter and bready flavors mingle about a bit and then meld quite well at the end as some more roasted and an even heavier banana and apple fruit flavors come to the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to above average side in terms of smoothness and thickness with a carbonation level that is very average as well. It is quite drinkable, but yet soothing on the tongue. It is quite nice for the style.
Overall – An easy drinking, tasty brew with a good balance between roast, malt, and sweet.
